THIS IS EMILY'S PAGE

My friends call me Em or Emi. I was born and raised in Missoula, Montana.

I attended Valley Christian High School, where I was on the tennis team for three years. After graduation in 1994, I took a year off before I began a course in accounting at the University of Montana College of Technology.

My grandmother gave each of her grandchildren some money in 1992. My mom wouldn't let us spend it, but opened a savings account and said it had to be saved for something very special such as college or a trip some day. In 1994, we had a German girl with us on a private exchange. The next summer, Lisa went to Germany to visit Christiane and her family. Mom hadn't been to Germany since before all of us were born, and everyone in the family agreed that this would be a great time for her to go again. She and I decided that I could go, too.

In 1997 I earned my Associate Degree from UM-COT. In 1998 I moved to Salt Lake City where I worked in Accounts Payable for Wasatch Constructors. Talk about getting into the thick of it...I wrote checks for millions of dollars every day as my company was responsible for the huge expansion of the I-15 freeway in Salt Lake preparing for the 2002 Olympics.

Some nice links to Utah and Salt Lake City:

In December of 1999, I became engaged to Brock. My sister Lisa also became engaged in December of ‘99. This was not something that was a surprise to both of us as we've always done just about everything together.

MY HUSBAND

My husband Brock was born and raised in Montana as the oldest of five children. He lived and breathed for baseball playing Little League all through his school years. He attended Montana State University in Bozeman, where he earned a Civil Engineering degree. Brock accepted a position first with a Salt Lake City construction firm, and worked later with another firm that was engineering a huge subdivision on the bench of the Wasatch Front.

We really enjoyed living in Salt Lake City, especially having the mountains right in your backyard. There are so many great ski areas there, in and around Parke City where the 2002 Olympic ski events were held. The Utah Jazz call Salt Lake City "home" and we also went to hockey games there. We enjoyed Zion National Park where we did some hiking. The huge Lake Powell reservoir is great for house-boating and relaxation. And a drive "home to Montana" is not that far.

Brock and I continued to live in Salt Lake City until Spring of 2001 when he accepted a job in Denver. The I-15 project was winding down through the summer and I was preparing to find different work when I joined him in Denver. But our parent company was awarded bids on more huge freeway construction down in Denver and so I was able to move within the company. The people of Denver have knick-named our project "T-REX" because some dinosaur bones have been uncovered in the initial stages of the project. I was the sub-contract administrator for the project and really liked my work and the people there.

Denver is interesting. It is so huge in comparison to anywhere in Montana; about the same as Salt Lake I guess. We lived in the Tech Center where both of our offices were within a 5- to 10-minute drive. It's like a city-within-a-city. There are great places to shop and eat right there so we seldom went into the City Center. Denver is home to the Broncos, Brock's favorite football team. We were able to go to several of their games.

In advance of starting our family, we decided to take a road trip from north to south on the Pacific Coast Highway. We started in Washington at Orcas Island in the San Juans. And ended up in San Diego where Brock's brother lives. My parents were living in San Francisco and that seemed a perfect place to have a family reunion over the 4th of July and celebrate Mom's birthday at the same time.
