BABY GIRL

Baby girl, I've watched you grow
Over the years I've come to know
How we are alike and still not the same
You've learned life is not simply a game
You've been touched by sorrow and mirth
You've learned friendship's value and worth
The fear of being alone you hide so well
But to me, these inner secrets you tell
How I wish for you to find peace and love
As I petition our Father in heaven above
May you find someone who will complete you
Someone with a love forever strong and true
Nearly 21, the world sees you as grown
Your childhood has past by and flown
Still you long to be held tight
When you lay awake in the night
It would be so simple if you could stay a child
No classes, no bills, no homework schedules wild
I pray you soon will find your other half
So you will feel free to smile and laugh
Don't give up hope, he may be just around the corner
Maybe he too is somewhat of a loner
Please be patient until God brings him to you
He's got a plan, let Him work it through
I'll always be here, here in your soul
When you want to hide in a deep dark hole
I've been lonely too, it can be hard
But Christ is our rear guard
So give Him a chance to bring you together
He'll grant to you a love that lasts forever.
