EVENING TRAIN

The soldier stepped down off the evening train
Young and strong, no need for a walker or cane
A one way ticket brought him to this place
He looks around seeking a familiar face
A voice calls out, he hears his name
An old friend draws near, glad because he came
At his side a boy looks on
His eyes bright like the sky at dawn
For so long he's had to wait
But trusting him not to be late
The child reaches out and takes his hand
He wants to share the secrets of the land
His name is Brian, a very cheerful lad
He can be mischevious but he's not really bad
He played at the station, while the train came in
Each day near dusk, he'd go there again
He was there to greet Enice back in '98
Always there waiting , he was never late
Together they stayed, meeting the train every day
Finding friends and helping to show them the way
Then in February of 2004
Lyman came home from the distant shore
With open arms they welcomed him home
Now together the three of them roam
Safe and happy, from illness set free
For the first time in years, Lyman can really see
Both men have a full head of hair
None of them have a worry or care
The slightest whisper Enice can hear
Brian is thrilled to have them both near
Now they wait until our turn to ride
The train that will take us to the other side
One by one we will join them all
When the Lord decides our name to call
