MARINE AT HEART

He had a dream
From the time he was a boy
To join that team
Would be his greatest joy
But the doctor said no
The level was too high
Before he could pass the test
Pigs would be able to fly
Give up the dream they would say
Pursue a new path in life
Go to college, get a job
Travel to Europe, get a wife
But the dream held his soul
From the time he was small
All he wanted was to be in the elite
The best and bravest of them all
Time after time he returned
Strong and stubborn he faced each test
Determination drove him on
He would not pause to rest
No matter how many tries
Until he stands apart
No uniform is needed
For you see, he is a Marine at heart
