REMEMBRANCE DAY MEMORIES
The music brought back
The fire in his eyes
A song about a soldier
Who fought against tyranny and lies
Memories flood over him
As he recalls his band of brothers
They served together overseas
To bring freedom to others
The eyes are the windows to the soul
He can't hide his feelings inside
The anger and terror of fighting
He's taken back on a ride
He gave up everything he had
He left it all behind
A sacrifice he chose to make
Risking life, limb and mind
He made it through with barely a scratch
But he holds his head up high
He's proud of the stand he took
As the flag passes by
Today he remembers the ones
The lost, the missing, the silent in their graves
No matter the terrain
Whether jungle, desert or caves
They have an unbreakable bond
Retired vets, boys who became men
Vietnam, France, Germany, Iraq
They fought before, they'll fight again
Today is the day we vow to remember
A day just for the women and men
As long as we never forget
We pray they'll never have to fight again
So the song is sung
The flag waves gently in the breeze
The soldiers march onward
As the wind whispers in the trees
