THE HOMECOMING
In memory of my grandmother, Rose Ellen Hall July 4, 1928 - September 14, 2004

The telephone rang on a September morn
Another piece from my heart was torn
I dreaded the news I knew I would hear
I had lost someone I held dear
Half a year had passed since her man died
Her sorrow and pain she could not hide
The illness was back, so terrible to see
But home is where she wanted to be
More than fifty years together they spent
Till death do they part they really meant
They were not meant to be apart
The tie was too strong that bound their hearts
He went first to be sure all was ready
Then he waited, standing strong and steady
A handsome young man, waiting for his love
She's a beautiful lass, finally at home above
Both have been freed from life's old age
They have begun to write a new page
Together they walk hand in hand
To remain with their Lord in His promised land
