P O E T R Y
UNBROKEN

Bruised and battered, kicked around
Flinching away from every sound
She knows it isn't love he gives
With terror and trembling she lives
She steps between in order to protect
But now she pauses to reflect
Love is patient and love is kind
Love doesn't torment the mind
The time is drawing near she knows
When she will face his blows
She's found the courage to say no
She'll take the child and go
He responds in rage
But she's already turned the page
She'll protect her child at any cost
Even if the marriage is lost
She found the strength to go on
He can't believe she's gone
Now he's alone, his temper is cool
He realizes he's been a fool
She'll forgive and forget, he's on the right track
Now he's the one to weep, she's not coming back
