WAIT FOR ME

I was running around searching far and wide
So busy looking for the love of my life
Seeking the right one I never could find
I hardly noticed the friendship you offered
Wise beyond your years from the time and tears
You knew love and its power and pain
Too long you’ve hid your fears
You should be held in arms strong and warm
Maybe some day we will confide
Really get to know each other
Tell all the secrets we hold inside
And find something that will last
But until I realize you are there
Be patient with me, I am just a man
If my heart links with yours always I’ll care
And you will never again be alone
You are right under my nose
But I can’t see you yet
Much like a small wild prairie rose
Waiting to be found quiet and still.
