Wonderful World, by Louis Armstrong

Indianapolis, the place of my birth. The city has changed a lot since then, but many happy memories remain throughout time. Most of them center around family. The city has been called the Crossroads of America, and this title is most befitting as it is evident that there is something here for people of every facet of life.

My favorite spots in Indy?

The Eiteljorg Museum, which offers a good collection of Eiteljorg MuseumAmerican Indian and Western art. Be sure to find the Georgia O'Keefe painting located on the second floor. That painting alone always makes it worth visiting. The museum also houses a nice collection of Fredric Remington bronzes. Additionally, they hold many special events, flavored in a variety of art forms...even a chili cook-off!

There are plenty of shopping centers located throughout the city, with the most popular being Circle City Mall and Union Station, Art Gallery in Nashville, INboth located within the downtown area. But my favorite place to shop, is actually a little south of Indianapolis, in Nashville, Indiana. This small town offers street after street of specialty shops with many of the goods originating from fine craftsmen and artisans from the area. You can find anything from leather goods to candles to fine art or something for a sweet tooth. The surrounding area, Brown County, has miles of trials for hiking, or bicycling, and camping facilities.

Indianapolis is also the home to the largest Children's MuseumChildren's Museum in the country. It has also been voted #1 by Family Fun magazine. The exhibits are all "hands on" and cover a wide array of subjects within the field of science and history, including a steam train, and a clock constructed from a wall of water. While the museum is designed for children, I believe that adults enjoy it just as much, if not even more!
