"Its so boring going to all these camps! And plus, I won't know anyone!" Her mother smirked, "Oh yes you will, I talked with Molly's mom and we agreed that you'll go together." "Molly?" "Yes, you'll go with Molly." Serena sighed, maybe it wouldn't be that bad after all. If Molly was going then she could at least have one person to talk to. "I dunno, lemme talk to Molly." Serena ran up to her room and sat on her bed. She dialed Molly's number from her blue fluffy phone. As she waited, Serena looked around at her newly decorated room. The walls were baby blue with a light green border. She had posters of cats all over mixed in with a couple posters of Blink-182, or Pink. Everything in her room was either blue or green. "Hello?" "Molly? Hey!" "Oh hi Serena!" Molly said in her British accent. "What's up?" "You know that camp that our moms want us to go to?" "Yea," "Do ya wanna go?" "Why not?" "I dunno, I'm not in the mood for it," Serena said hesitantly. "I won't know anyone except you." "We can always make new friends. It will be fun," "If you insist…" "Come on Serena, live a little," Serena sighed, what had she to lose? Her reputation? No, at 17 years old she was known as the Ice Princess. Turning down every guy, not talking to anyone but Molly, that type of stuff. "Oh alright," "Cool!" After talking a little long to Molly, Serena hung up and told her mom she would go. "Great! It's next weekend. We'll go shopping later in the week." Serena nodded miserably and went back to her room. ~1 WEEK LATER~ "Ok Serena, this is a camping trip, so you need bug repellent-" "Check" "Sleeping bag" "Check" Serena's mom continued to say the things on the list. After making sure they had everything she needed, Serena packed some extra necessities. Her diary, extra clothes, CD player, magazines, etc. <HONK! HONK!> Serena ran out to see Molly in her car. "Coming!" she called out, she ran back inside and grabbed her stuff. Molly helped her put it in the trunk. "Bye mom!" Serena called out as she hopped in the car. *** "This will be a great experience Serena!" Molly said as they were driving on the highway. "Why?" Serena asked confused, "Well, we're almost 18 so we should learn how to deal with these experiences…" "And…" Serena prompted, suspecting there was more. "And… think of all the cute guys!" Molly exclaimed and she switched over to the right lane. "Molly!" Serena groaned. "Come on Sere, maybe there will be one guy who can get past your Ice Princess act." "The others haven't," Serena muttered as she stared out the window. "Oh Serena," Molly sighed as she concentrated on the road. 'I wish there was one guy right for you…’ The girls pulled up to the parking lot and looked around. Serena got out and stretched, then waited for Molly. Together they walked up to the registration desk. "Hello, how can I help you?" the receptionist asked, "We are here for the camping trip." Molly said through the window. "Registration papers." "Here," Serena handed hers and Molly's papers. After looking them over briefly, the receptionist nodded. "Cabin 17A," she handed them a map then turned to help the next customer. "well, we might as well," With Molly giving directions and Serena driving, they managed pretty well. "Here it is," Molly said as they came up to a cabin that said 17A. They got out and using the key that was given to them, walked in and took a look around. "Hello?" Serena called out, "Anyone here?" Four girls rushed out to the front. "Hi are you our new roommates?" A bubbly blonde haired girl asked. Molly nodded. "Cool! I'm Mina, this is Raye, Lita and Amy." Serena nodded coolly and looked at them. Mina had long blonde hair pulled back by a big red bow and she had bright blue eyes. Raye had raven colored hair and dark reddish eyes. Lita was tall with brown hair pulled back in a ponytail, her green eyes fierce. Amy was tiny and had short blue hair, her eyes were the same color as her hair. What’s her problem? Lita asked to herself, disturbed by the new girl’s attitude. "Where will we sleep?" Molly asked them. "Up stairs with Mina and Lita," Raye said as she walked into the kitchen. "This is the kitchen obviously, the two rooms over there are mine and Amy’s." Serena walked automatically upstairs and looked around. The first two rooms were taken so evidently she and Molly would have the back two rooms. She peered in the one to the left and took an immediate liking to it. It was lavender will a big window and bathroom connected. "You gonna take that room Serena?" Molly asked as she walked up behind Serena. Serena nodded and went back down to get her stuff from the car. She and Molly settled down and went o get a bite to eat in the kitchen. "Damn, ya think that girl talks?" Lita asked Raye, who shook her head. "I dunno, she seems so cold, like she’s scared to get close to anyone." "Maybe she had a rough childhood you guys, don’t be quick to judge," Amy said standing up for the new girl. "It’s nothing like that," Serena said icily from the doorway with Molly behind her. "I just don’t think you deserve my opinions," and with that Serena walked up the stairs to her room and slammed the door shut. The room was silent for a second. "Isn’t she friendly," Mina said unhappily. "Oh, please give he a chance," Molly pleaded, "She’s a really great person but she doesn’t always show it." "We can tell," Raye said sarcastically as Molly sighed and looked up to where Serena had disappeared to. Why couldn’t her best friend drop the Ice act? They met outside, after Molly talked to Serena. Together, the six of them walked down the main hall where they, and everyone else, was supposed to meet. After the meeting, they walked outside to get some fresh air when one of the counselors walked up to them. "Hello!" he slurred as he walked up to Serena. "I’m Brett," He took her hand and kissed it. "Pleased to make your acquaintance." She pulled her hand away out of his disgustedly. "What is your problem!" She shrieked, "Aren’t you a counselor?" "That I am my bunny," "Don’t call me your bunny," "If you need counseling in anything I’ll be here" He made a move to kiss her but she pulled back. "Well then, can you ‘counsel’ me on how to shove a stick up your ass?" Serena retorted, quite angrily, and the crowd that had gathered laughed. Brett saw red and grabbed her close and squeezed hr butt. "Listen to me babe, no one, I mean, no one, makes a fool of Brett Green, especially not a girl! I will get you!" Serena smirked, "Then get this," She punched him squarely in his sensitive area and watched in satisfaction as he bent down in extreme pain. She stooped down to his level, "If you ever lay hands on me, you’ll be sorry." Serena whispered dangerously. She stood up and turned on her heel and walked away as the crowd cheered for her. When she got to her cabin, she sighed and threw her coat of onto the sofa. What a great first day and that was only the beginning of it. Molly, Amy, Lita, Mina and Raye rushed in and all started talking at once. "Wow Serena!" "Gee jolly whiz!" "That was so cool!" "You rock!" "That was funny!" Serena held her hand up for silence and they gave it to her. "Have anything meaningful to say?" Raye burned with anger (AN: corny pun) and Lita seethed. "What is your problem?" Raye demanded, "You are always being cold to us when we are trying to be nice to you!" "I don’t want your pity," Serena said coldly and even Amy was taken back. "Well I’m sor-ry Miss High and Mighty! Excuse me for trying to be your friend!" Lita bit back. "I don’t want you as my friend unless you mean it!" Serena glared at Lita who glared right back. They had a staring contest for five whole minutes. Eventually, Serena had a smile slowly start up your face. "Prove it and you’re in." was all she said before going up to her room. "Yes!" Molly exclaimed and everyone stared at her weirdly. "If she says ‘prove it’ then she accepts you!" Molly explained. "It took a long time for me to earn Serena’s trust. But it was worth it!" Then Molly went upstairs and into her own room. <DINNER TIME> Serena and Molly joined Raye, Lita, Amy, and Min, at Molly’s request. The girls were surprised when Serena ordered a whole bunch of stuff then actually ate it! When they were finished with their desserts, the group to a walk outside nearby. "Umph!" Serena mumbled as she bumped in to a tall figure. "Hey watch where you’re going!" "Excuse me?" "You heard me," The figure responded. "I’m not the one bumping in to people." "So it wasn’t you that was looking at the sky, tripping every couple of feet, was it?" Amy retorted and Serena looked her surprised. She didn’t think the girl had the guts. "You shouldn’t talk about you friends like that." He fired back. "Jerk" Serena said. "Meatball Head" "…" Serena didn’t answer. "Ah, so you don’t like that name." He said. "Dumbass," She swore, he was extremely rude! "Bitch," "Asshole" "Poopie butt" He responded. "Truce?" "…" The guy looked surprised. "I like you, you got spunk and attitude." The guy nodded his head, understanding. They did the ‘guy’ handshake. "Walk with us to the cabin, ok?" it wasn’t a question, it was a statement. He nodded and the group started walking towards the camp. "So what’s your name?’ Mina asked, hoping this guy was available. "Darien Shields," "What cabin?" Lita asked, expecting him to be a camper. "I’m a counselor." "How old?" Amy asked curiously. "18 and a half." "You got a girlfriend?" asked the daring Raye. "Nope." The girls exchanged glances behind his back. "Where ya from?" Molly inquired. "San Jose," They reached the girls cabin and obviously stopped walking. "Really? Same with me and Serena! That’s so cool." Molly exclaimed. "You wanna go swimming with us?" Serena asked, surprising them all. "Yea…sure I guess. When?" "Today, 12, hot springs." Was all she said before disappearing inside. The girls followed her in and Mina waved bye to Darien. <12am OUTSIDE GIRLS CABIN> <Tap, tap, tap.> <Shhhhh….> <coming!> The door opened a crack and Serena stepped outside. "Ready?" Darien asked. All he had were his clothes and a towel. He motioned to a person beside him. "This is Andrew," Serena nodded and quietly called to the girls inside. They all grabbed their stuff and started walking down the road, about a mile a way from camp to the nearest hot spring. Darien started undressing, taking off his shirt, showing his well-defined abs. Darien’s friend, Andrew did the same. The girls all drooled openly at the sight of the guy’s chest except for Serena, who drooled in her mind. The girls took off their shirts and shorts and climbed in. When Serena was comfortably settled in (she was in between Andrew and Darien, and across from Molly) she turned to Darien and asked him to unhook her top. "What?!?" Darien asked astounded. "Please unhook my top," Serena said patiently, like she was talking to a child. "I’m gonna skinny dip." "You…you…are?" He asked uncertainly and Serena sighed. "Fine I’ll keep my bottom on." Darien sighed in SOME relief and motioned for Serena to turn around. When she did he untied the neck strap and then untied the strap that when across the back. His hand followed the top piece of the bathing suit to the front of her body and paused for a second at her breast before continuing down at her stomach where it rested there. "Want me to keep you warm?" he whispered huskily and Serena smiled. She was good at flirting and it was one of her favorite things to do. "Only if I can sit on your lap." She whispered back and he nodded. Instead of having him pull her in, Serena got on her knees, keeping her nipples barely in the water, and climbed in front of Darien. He stared at her exposed chest and pulled her in, feeling her chest against his. He gulped and turned her around so her back was against his chest. She smiled secretly to herself and turned slightly to look up towards him. What was she doing? She couldn’t get involved with anyone. No matter how cute. Not after what happened 5 years ago. As she backed off Darien’s lap she thought she saw disappointment flash through he blue eyes but she quickly dismissed it. Molly watched as her best friend got off the cute guy’s lap and stood up, hiding her breasts from everyone and quickly grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her. Molly was willing to bet that Serena was gonna hook up with that Darien, no matter how hard she tried not to. "I’m gonna walk back." Serena’s cold voice cut through Molly’s thoughts. "I’ll go with you," Darien said as he stood up. "No that’s ok," "I have to," "No I insist, you do need to," Serena glared at Darien. "For your safety," Darien’s voice was dripping with sarcasm. "You obviously don’t care about my safety, so save your self some time and wrinkle your skin," "Why you-" Darien was cut off by Molly who jumped out of the hot spring. "It’s ok, I’ll walk her back." Molly quickly gathered her stuff up and she and Serena started walking back to the cabins. Darien sat back down in the hot springs, staring after them. "What is her problem?" he asked the rest of the group angrily. "We dunno," Mina said. "She’s like that to us too," Raye added. "Molly’s really nice though," Lita muttered, wondering how to best friends could be so different. "Molly said that something happened to Serena that made her cold. I wonder what," Amy asked curiously. The group quietly soaked in the springs for another half-hour before going back. Talking about where they were from but not about Serena and her mysterious past. Morning Serena woke up with the sun shining in her room brightly. She groaned and got up. Reached down under her bed, she pulled out a light blue diary with a small blue bird in the center. Opening it, she began to write with a fluffy blue pen. August 3, 22 days until my birthday They hate me. Who can blame them? I’m so confused about Darien, he’s cute and all, but I’m not sure about my feelings for him. This is the first time that I’m confused about a guy. God I need to tell someone. But who? Molly, she’s sweet and all, and I love like a sister, but I don’t think she’ll understand. <Sigh> I can’t believe what I did last night. Maybe I’m gaining some confidence back after what happened. There’s just something about him, I dunno…. I should go now, I hear someone. Love always, <3 Serena Serena quickly put her diary away and rushed to the shower. She quickly undressed and turned the water on. After waiting for it to be warm, she got in and bathed herself. When she got out, she walked downstairs where Molly, Amy, and Mina were eating. Lita and Raye were still sleeping. After nodding quietly to Molly, she set about making omelet. When she finished Lita and Raye came down. "Ummm…. I smell something good!" Lita sighed as she walked down, but stopped when she saw that Serena had made it. "Want some?" Serena asked quietly, noticing the change of Lita’s attitude. Lita nodded and took a seat as Serena split some of the omelet with her. When all were finished with their breakfast, they walked down to the mess hall. "Now I know you’re a little old for this," Terri William’s, the director said, "but you need to get to know each other. You are gonna be staying together for a month. What I’m gonna do is assign a counselor to your cabin and they will get to know you and you will know them and the others." Terri took a deep breath. "Cabin 16A James, Cabin 16B Michael, 17A Brett, 17B Darien…" Serena froze in place. Her counselor was Brett? It couldn’t be, not after what he tried to do to her. Serena closed her eyes and when she opened them Darien was in front of her. "It’s ok, we combine cabins so I will be able to look after you and make sure Brett won’t do anything." Darien said softly as Serena just stared at him. "I know what happened, I was there." Darien told her quietly. Serena just stared past him. ~FLASHBACK~ "No! No don’t! Stop! AHHHHHH!" "Shut up bitch! What happened? Where was she? She tried to sit up, but when she did, she felt like her head was exploding. Suddenly, she looked around quickly then at herself and sighed a sigh of relief. She still had her clothes and there were no bruises on her. So where was she?!? She sat up and stayed like that for a while. ‘Head rush,’ she thought grimly. After her head cleared, Serena was able to stand and start looking around. It seemed kinda like her cabin but bigger. She walked around downstairs but found no one, so she continued upstairs. All the bedroom doors were open except one. She peered in the open bedrooms and found that there was no one in there either, quietly, she push the door open for the last bedroom and what she saw shocked her. It was Darien. He hadn’t noticed her yet because he was listening to music, but he was lying on the bed in only his boxers flipping through a magazine. After carefully examining him, she had only seen him at night, she decided that he was cuter during the day. “Ehem,” Serena cleared her throat and Darien still didn’t notice. Groaning, she walked over to him and shut off the CD player. He looked at her surprised. “Hi,” “Hey, how are you feelin’?” “Fine. What happened?” She sat down on his bed as he scooted over for her. “I don’t know, they said Brett’s name then you started shivering uncontrollably and then blacked out. What happened?” Suddenly she remembered, they said his name, and she had been afraid that he would try something new to hurt her, and then she had a flashback, then she blacked out. “I need to use your bathroom.” She replied instead. Darien raised an eyebrow but said nothing. He pointed where it was and gave her one of his shirts and a pair of boxers. “Towels are in the cabinet,” and flipped over and turned his CD player back on. Serena started at his back for a second, hurt, before getting up and going to the bathroom. Why shouldn’t he be rude if she had shut him out. ‘Because only I can!’ Serena felt like shouting. She shook her head clear of any thoughts and took a shower. Serena emerged in a large shirt that went down to her calves and heart boxers. Her long blonde hair was flowing down her back since she let it loose. She went back to Darien’s room. “Watcha listening to?” Darien looked at her and caught his breath, she was gorgeous, with her hair let loose, and she even looked great in his shirt and boxers. He shook himself out of a daze and responded to her question, “P.O.D.” He expected her to turn her nose with disgust, but instead she shrieked. “I love them!” He stared at her in surprise. He didn’t think she was the type to like them. Serena took the CD out of his portable CD play and placed it into his boom box. Pressing play, she started singing along and dancing as Darien gazed upon her surprised. “You know this song?” “Yea, it’s my fave!” She continued singing, “We are, we are, youth of a nation, we are, we are…” Darien laughed. “What?” Serena asked innocently, her blue eye wide, as if she had been caught doing something she enjoyed. “You look so cute dancing in my extra large shirt,” he told her smiling. Serena blushed, she hadn’t been complemented in a while. “Thanks.” She looked cute when she smiled too. “Where is Serena?” Molly asked frantically and everyone shook their head. No one knew where the Ice Queen went. Its not like they cared that much either, except those who were her roomies. “Maybe she’s with Darien,” Mina suggested, “I saw her faint into his arms,” Raye narrowed her eyes in envy. “He probably took her into his cabin then,” Lita added. “Let’s go check!” They all agreed and started walking towards Darien’s cabin, when they got there, they were needless to say, shocked. Very, very shocked. For one, Serena was wearing Darien’s clothes. Two, she was laughing, and three, they were playing Twister. The group stayed in the shadows for a bit, watching them. “Right hand on green, left foot on red,” Serena tried to put her hand over Darien’s body, but that didn’t work, so she went under him, then she twisted her foot backwards underneath her. “No fair,” Darien complained. “You’re too flexible!” Serena giggled and Molly laughed out loud and realizing what she had done, she quickly covered her mouth. But it was too late, Serena and Darien both heard and fell down surprised, with Serena on top of Darien. She quickly scrambled up off him. “And I was wining too,” she pouted and Darien grinned at her. “Serena?” Molly asked uncertainly and Serena looked at her. “Yeah Molly?” “Are you ok?” “Couldn’t be better, why?” “Um…” “You’re laughing,” Mina butt in. “You never laugh,” Mina held her breath, waiting for one of Serena’s pert replies, but it never came. “Didn’t really find that much stuff funny,” Serena shrugged. “Anyway, let’s eat!” She scrambled up and rushed to his kitchen as everyone one followed behind. “What do you have to eat?” Lita asked as everyone rummaged through the cupboards looking for something. “Nothing.” They sweatdropped. “I’ll cook,” Lita announced, and before anyone could stop her, she set too it. That night, everyone had a wonderful time, they didn’t question Serena’s change, but suspected Darien had something to do with it. Molly was right, once you became friends with her, she was cool to hang out with. But no one noticed that Raye was seething with major jealously now, and would do almost anything. They left at 9 o’clock, after meeting Darien’s roommate, Andrew, again. Mina seemed to get along with him quite well, and he seemed to like her back. But before they were leaving, Serena had one more thing to say to Darien. She turned around and faced, before saying quietly: “It doesn’t go farther than this.” |
