Cassandra Mitchells-Chapter Two
"Kallesena.
You stay away from my daughters! Unless you wish to suffer the same fate as your mother
did." Queen Serenity narrowed her eyes and lifted her crystal locket to match
Kallesena's upraised finger.
"My dear Queen Serenity," Kallesena who had before been
floating carelessly in the air, slightly above our heads, slowly lowered herself to the
ground, "I bring no harm to your daughters. In fact, I wish to offer you a
deal."
"A deal?" I questioned, stepping forth despite Queen
Serenity's efforts to stop me. "What sort of deal?"
"I am offering quite a fair deal, that will benefit you, Princess
Cassandra, and myself and in turn, the world. My sister is determined to prove me wrong by
saying she will grab the queens throne before me. I say that she is quite incapable of
doing so. Now, dear, I know about the entire winner take all duel between you and my
sister. Quite a cheap way to go, I say. But I know that you fear you will not defeat her.
So I offer you this: my sister's weaknesses. I can tell you exactly how to overcome her
and if you wish, even give you the powers to defeat her."
"And what do you wish in return?"
"Nothing."
"Nothing? Are you quite sure about that. I don't believe you are
willing to do all that without anything in return." I narrowed my eyes.
"We-ell," Kallesena fiddled with her necklace, a mischievous
glint in her eye. "There is one thing I wish."
"Your powers."
"No! Absolutely not! If that is the case, we will defeat Lilida
without your help! There is no way you're getting my daughter's powers!" Queen
Serenity cried out. She grabbed my arm and pulled me back.
"Why do you wish to have Cassandra's powers?" Serena asked.
"So you can try to destroy her with her own powers?"
"Dear, sweet, little Princess Serena, why would you ever ask that?
I merely want her powers so I can take over the lost old planet of Therandila. I assume
you have no need for Therandila, my Queen?" Kallesena flashed her eyes innocently at
Queen Serenity.
"No, but..."
"But nothing, honey. They are a savage little tribe that needs a
queen to control them. And I am just the person to do it. So are you going to accept the
deal or not, dear Princess?" Kallesena honeyed her voice so sweetly it made me sick.
"Perhaps." I replied, ice dripping from my voice.
"Perhaps?" She whispered menacingly. Her eyes narrowed
unexpectedly and her voice drew on a dangerous tone. "Little princess, there is no
perhaps. Maybe you haven't learned yet, but Lilida has 'scheduled' the battle in two
weeks. Will you be ready then without me? So dear, you either say yes, the correct answer,
or you say no and answer to Lilida's wrath, not to mention mine. Though she is not as
formidable a opponent as I am, I know you cannot defeat her without me. Say yes and stay
alive or answer no and die a cruel death. You understand?"
"Crystal clear, dear."
"You answer, then, dear?"
Queen Serenity and Princess Serena leapt forward to stop me from
answering. I held a hand out to stop them.
"Your answer?" Kallesena prompted again.
"Yes."
She smiled slowly. "Now, there's a good little princess."
~~~~~~~~~~
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to
Cassandra, happy birthday to you!" A beautiful cake lit with eighteen candles was
placed before me. I took a deep breath and blew on them until the fire flickered out amid
waves of cheers.
"Happy birthday!" Adrian hugged me.
The cake was served and soon afterward the party began to wrap up. The
coat pile dwindled as the gift pile grew larger. As I began to help Andrea clean up,
Serena and Darien approached me, with the other scouts behind them. "Can we talk to
you?" Darien requested. I nodded and they led me to Andrea's bedroom once more.
"Can I ask you something?" Serena asked, leading me to the
bed and sitting me beside her.
"Boy, does this feel like deja vu. Haven't you said that to me
before?" I retorted sarcastically. I pretended to ponder about that for a moment,
"Oh, yes, you said that to me right before you turned my life upside down!"
"I'm sorry but.."
"Sorry? Is that all you can say? And there are no buts about
it!" I jumped to my feet and threw my hands up in the air, my voice getting louder
with every word,
"Like it or not, you turned my life upside down! What am I
supposed to do now? Pretend like nothing happened? You might be able to do that, but I
can't! I never asked to have this responsibility! It wasn't like in grade school I learned
how to save the world every week! You know what? You can have my powers, whatever they
are. You go save the world every week, ok?"
Serena's eyes began to tear up. "You-you don't need to yell at me!
I know what you're going through. I went through it, too. I know how upset you are. At
least you go to stay a normal child for a few more years."
"I don't care about that! Do you realize that I'm up against a
battle with Lilida in two weeks? You guys have been doing this for so long, and you didn't
have to save the world on your first day! I-I can't handle this. I'm sorry," I turned
to face Andrea, "I have to get out of here. Thanks for the party, Andrea."
"Cassandra, wait!" Serena leapt after me as I stepped into
the front hallway, but Darien stopped her before she could race out the doorway after me.
He muttered to her, "Give her time. Give her time."
"You can't run away forever!" Serena yelled after me.
"You can't run away forever!"
Maybe not forever, but I could run now. And so I did. I didn't even
bother to go home. I ran straight to the place I went to every time I needed to clear my
head-the park. The park by our house was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been
in. My favorite place in the park was a little tree house completely surrounded by trees.
It was abandoned there so I had fixed up and strung with lights. It was completely
sheltered and I left tapes of me singing and my drawings there, including my private
diary. The tree house was completely hidden from anyone else as far as I had knew until
that day. I began climbing the ladder, crying despite my best efforts not to. Just before
I reached the top, I realized the lights were already turned on. Wondering if I had left
them on since the last time I had been there, I poked my head up inside to check. I
stifled a gasp as I shimmied back down.
I would have gone into the treehouse except there was a tiny little
problem. Someone was already inside.
Leaning against the tree trunk, I panted heavily and debated going back
up or running away somewhere else. Serena's words came back to haunt me, "You can't
run away forever! You can't run away forever!"
"I know I can't run away from everything. So I should tackle
things one at a time. Starting with this." I gave myself a little pep-talk. "Ok,
Cassandra, let's go!"
Slowly, I climbed back up to the treehouse. On the very slow journey, I
began to grow angry. Who did this guy think he was? Didn't he realize that this is
someone's
private treehouse? Hadn't he realized how secluded it was here? How dumb could one person
get?
Finally, I reached the top. As soon as I had, I realized one very big
problem. I had no idea what to do. I cleared my throat. He didn't react. Softly, I
whispered, "Um, excuse me?" No reaction came to that either. I tried to get
closer, but I bumped into a pile of books and they came crashing down. Both of us jumped.
"Oh! Hello!" He exclaimed.
"Ohhh..." I exhaled slowly. I had just met every girl's dream
date. He was tall with wavy brown hair and deep chocolate eyes. His voice had a british
accent and was rich and deep. He was dressed casually, but he had the air of a elegant
royal.
"Are you all right?" He asked.
"Umm....yeah! Yes, I'm fine." I replied, not taking my eyes
off him.
"My name is Anthony." He said. After a long pause he asked,
"And you are?"
"Oh! I'm sorry! I'm Mitchells. Mitchells, Cassandra. I
mean....Cassandra Mitchells." My face burned with embarrassment as his eyes twinkled
merrily. Finally, I questioned, "How did you find this treehouse?"
"The way you found it, most likely. I'm new in town and I don't
know my way around the park, and I happened to bump into this treehouse because I was
lost. It was cold and I decided to stay here for a moment or two. I found these
beautifully drawn pictures accompanied by this beautiful voice that sounds...that sounds
like yours!" His eyes widened. "Oh, please tell me you...you..."
I nodded guiltily. "I'm sorry!" He cried. "I didn't mean
to invade your treehouse!"
"It's ok."
He looked embarrassed and mumbled something about leaving. Before
climbind down, he turned to me and staring at his feet, said, " I know this is
unexpectd, but I wouldn't suppose you would like to go out with me. Perhaps the day after
tomorrow night? I could meet you here. That is, if you would like to go out with me."
"That'll be...awesome!" I said. "See you then!" He
climbed down the ladder.
"Good night!" He said, waving at me from the ground.
"Talley-ho!" I called back. He smiled.
He waved once more and walked off.
For a moment, I daydreamed about him and completely forgot about why I
had even gone there. Suddenly, I could hear a voice calling my name.
"Cassandra! Cassandra!" Chessy's voice called. Sighing, I ran
out to meet her.
"Where have you been? Andrea called to say you left awhile ago and
you didn't come home! I was so worried. I thought you might have come here, and it turns
out I was right, but darling, why did you come here so late at night?" Chessy hugged
me tightly and covered me in my warm coat.
I sighed. I wasn't ready nor did I feel like answering to Chessy's
interrogation. She sensed my mood and said softly, "Let's go home."
~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning, I decided to head to the mall to get the whole Sailor
Starlight thing out of my head. Skipping into store after store, I spent my sorrows
away.You'd think spending my life savings (all right, all right, month savings) would make
me a bit sad, but I was quite the opposite. I became giddier with each thing I bought, not
to mention my bags became heavier and heavier. At the last store, my favorite, I spent my
last bit of money. Staggering under a mountain of boxes and bags, I wasn't too careful
with where I was going. All I cared about was getting to my car with everything I had
bought still in tact. So I'm not too surprised with what happened next...
BAM!!
"Ohmygod!" I wailed.
"Are you all right?" A concerned voice asked.
"My clothes! My new jewlery!" I wailed. I heard muffled
laughing coming from behind me.
"This is no laughing matter!" I said, turning to face him
angrily. My eyes widened and my face burned familiarly when I saw who I was addressing.
"I'm sorry!" He stopped, eyes twinkling, "But you're
more concerned with your clothes than you are with yourself!"
Before me stood one of the cutest guys I had ever seen. His blond hair
was tossed adorably across his forehead and his deep green eyes locked mine. His high
cheekbones excentuated his dimples, placed perfectly. He looked as if he could be the guy
next door. The very cute guy next door, I might add.
"Can I help you bring your stuff to your car?" He asked as I
began collecting my fallen packages.
I nodded. He helped me to my car and silently, we placed them in my
trunk. He slammed the trunk down and for a moment, we stared into each other's eyes. My
mind reeled as I tried to think of something clever I could say.
"Your welcome." I said stupidly. My faced burned red with
embarassment for the third time in two days. He chuckled good naturedly. "Oh,
god," I closed my eyes briefly, cheeks burning, "I meant thank you."
"I believe you said my line." He grinned and I smiled back
weakly. "I appreciate your help and I'm sorry I bumped into you." I continued.
"It's ok. My name's Andrew, but you can call me Andy."
I stared at him for a moment before I realized he wanted my name, too.
"I-I'm Cassandra. You can call me Cassandra. Or Cassie. Whichever you prefer."
Why was I making such a fool of myself?
"If it makes you feel any better," He said softly, "I'm
nervous, too." I smiled a bit more confidently. Wrinkling up his forehead, he asked,
"You probably don't want to, but would you like to go out with me tomorrow
night?"
My jaw dropped at my luck.
"I know, I know, you're really sorry, but you're already going out
with someone. It's always like that! Everytime I like a girl!" He stomped his foot.
"Look, you don't need to answer if you don't want to."
"No! No, you don't understand! I'm not going out with anyone! I'd
love to go out with you!" I blurted out. "You would? She would! I mean, you
would." He tried to act as cool as he could, but his eyes told me he was ready to
jump up and down.
"Meet me at the north entrance of the park tomorrow?" He
requested. I nodded my reply. "See you then!" He skipped off.
Suddenly, when I got home, it struck me that was when my date with
Anthony was! I hit my head, "How could I be such a idiot!" I calmed down a bit
and thought logically, I'll just go back and rearrange my date with Andrew. I stomped my
foot in frustration as I realized I would never be able to find him and that I hadn't even
gotten a last name! Then I'll rearrange my date with Anthony, I thought, closing my eyes
pleasantly, No! I don't have his phone number or last name or anything!
"Oooooohhh!" I could have kicked myself. Opening the door, I
flopped down on the couch. "How could I be so stupid?" I moaned. The phone rang,
but I didn't feel like answering it. It rang again, inpatient, again and again. "Shut
up!" I snarled at him, switching on the answering machine.
"Cassandra! Cassandra! I know you're there, and I know you know
it's me!" Andrea's voice floated through the answering machine loud and clear.
"Pick up, come on, Cassandra! It has something to do with Anthony! Cassan-"
I snatched up the phone. "What?"
"-andra!" Andrea shouted into my ear.
"Ow! Andrea, I can hear you! You don't have to shout!" My
eyes flickered annoyingly. "Now what about Anthony? Wait-I never told you about him!
How do you know?"
"Cassandra, Cassandra, you won't believe me when I tell you! Ok, I
was talking to Luna and she was upset that you had run out because she had forgotten to
tell you something. I told her I'd see you soon and I'd tell you then. She told me to give
you this message: that the first stranger you meet after you have been told your past is
your future, he is your destiny." She paused for a moment to let it sink in. She
continued, "And then all of a sudden, Artemis comes running in and he shouts, 'It
happened, Luna! It happened!' I was totally confused and I was like, 'What happened?' He
led me to this crystal globe thingy and motioned for me to look into it and I saw you with
this dude who I might add is incredibly cute! I heard you guys talking and I was like,
'Ohmygod, that hunk is Cassandra's destiny!'" She paused again.
"Cassandra! Cassandra, are you there?" She said, with a hint
of annoyance in her voice.
"You can spy on me?" I said slowly.
"Well, yeah, Luna and Artemis have been doing so for some
time." She answered slowly. "Wait, you're not upset, are you?"
"You can spy on me?" I said again, even more slowly. I tried
to sound as sweet as possible, "No, Andrea, I'm not upset."
"Good, Cassandra, you had me going there for a second."
Andrea answered faintly, relief dripping from every word.
"I'm not upset at all. I'm infuriated! How can you guys invade my
privacy like that? You can just give a few good pokes in my life whenever you feel like
it? That-that-I don't even know what that's called! It's wrong, so wrong! Andrea, I can't
even talk to you right now!"
"No! Wait, Cassandra, please, listen to me for just a
second!"
"Why should I? All those times I told you my troubles, you
probably already knew! And you would then go home and laugh at my petty problems! And to
think you were my best friend!"
"Cassandra, it's not like that! The crystal future only allows us
to see things we need to see!"
"You may need to see them, but they're part of MY life and I
should be able to decide whether I want you to see it or not!"
"Cassandra, please, forget it for just one second. Anthony is your
destiny! Your destiny, Cassandra, don't you remember telling me about how you wish you
could find your soul mate? Well, he's standing in front of you, waiting for you!
Cassandra, do you know how incredible this is?"
"Well, I guess it is kinda incredible. It's just too bad that I
have to cancel my date with him."
"What?!"
"I know, I know, but I met this other really cute guy today
and.."
"No! You got a date with that hunk and you're going to cancel?
Cassandra, are you absolutely nuts?"
"But..." Suddenly, I realized before this I hadn't made up my
mind what to do. It just came out, "Oh, Andrea, what am I going to do?"
"What does the other guy look like?"
"Oh, Andrea...."
"Too much for words, right?"
"Totally."
"I'll come over and we can debate it."
"See ya!"
"Bye."
I hung up and collasped on the couch. How was I ever going to decide?
Andrea and I spent the rest of the afternoon pigging out and
daydreaming. Andrea suggested I go with my destiny and she can have Andrew. We trashed
that idea quickly. I thought I could meet Andrew first and tell him I need to cancel our
date, but Andrea pointed out Anthony might think I had stood him up and leave. Finally, a
brilliant idea arose to me. I could go meet Anthony first and try to end the date shortly,
while Andrea went and met Andrew to tell him I was caught up in something really important
and would meet him later that night. Andrea was reluctant at first, but eventually gave
in.
"After all," she said, popping a handful of popcorn in her
mouth, "If you don't show up, I can keep him for myself."
I threw a pillow at her.
"What?" She protested loudly.
~~~~~~~~~
"So?" I stepped out of my walk-in closet and faced Adrian,
who was lying on my bed, "How do I look?"
"Cassandra..." She sighed, "You look gorgeous. Can I
borrow that dress sometime?" I threw my pillow at her again. "I guess that means
no, right?" Andrea gave me a puppy dog face and I laughed.
"Come here, I'll fix your hair." She motioned for me to go to
her. I sat on the floor while Adrian french braided my hair from my desk chair.
"I'm nervous." I confessed. "I really hope our plan
works."
"For your sake, I do, too." Andrea replied.
Half an hour later, Andrea and I were in the park. "You go
meet Anthony and I'll go talk to Andrew. I'll tell him you'll meet in at Angelitas, the
new spanish resteraunt, in three hours. Ok?"
"Angelitas? Can we even get in? It's pretty popular."
"I got you reservations, don't worry. Call me on the cell and I'll
pick you up from whereever you are and hightail you over to Angelitas, ok? Go for it,
girl!" She hugged me and she went left on the walkway, I went right.
Walking along, I began to feel cold. I rubbed my arms and suddenly, I
felt a jacket being placed on my shoulders. "Anthony!"
He took my hand and kissed it. I felt a little siren go off in my head,
as if forewarning me, but I ignored it. I felt a chill go down my back as Anthony looked
into my eyes, but I ignored that, too. Today, I understand those signs weren't
coincidental, they were warning signs.
"Where are we going tonight?" I asked.
"The perfect place," He answered, leading me out of the park,
"Angelitas."
I stiffened. "Are-Are you sure? I don't really like mexican
food."
I felt his grip on my arm tighten painfully and I gave a small yelp.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Well, they don't only have mexican food. I'm sure you'll find
something you like." Anthony gave me a reassuring smile. I blocked out his trying to
hurt me as accidental and agreed to go to Angelitas. My heart screamed, "NO!
NO!" for unexplanable reasons, but I went because my mind refused to believe my
heart.
We were led to a window table by a cute waiter Andrea would have
approved. Anthony, being gentlemanly, helped me into my chair. He than sat down and we
waited for the waiter to bring us our menus. That long period of silence is one I hope I
never have to go through again. My mind and heart raced as Anthony's smile turned from
friendly to fiendish and back to innocent.
"So..." He said.
"So." I repeated, drumming my fingers on the tablecloth.
He grabbed my hand and I attempted to pull backwards. Something about
him made me quite frightened. It was like he had split personalities. One moment he would
be so debonair and charming and the next he looked so cold, it made me quite frightened.
"I don't quite know you, Cassandra, but I'd like to get to know
you." He said, fingering my palm.
Feeling uncomfortable, I tried to pull away again, but remebering
Andrea's words about him being my destiny, I let my hand rest atop his. I recalled his
hand tightly
squeezing my arm, and making my voice as calm as possible, "I don't know you, either,
Anthony, and I'd like to know about you, too."
His eyes flashed for a moment and his fingernails dug into my palm. I
snatched my hand from his and threw him a cold look. Luckily, the waiter brought our menus
just then. The meal passed uneventfully with dull chatter. Anthony paid and just before we
were about to leave, Anthony excused himself, leaving me to sit and wait and stare out the
window.
I wondered if the plan would work. "Of course it will!" I
said confidently to myself, "What could possibly go wrong?"
I spoke too soon.
In the window, I saw a reflection of Andrew, coming out of the men's
bathroom and coming towards me!
"It can't be!" I mouthed. "Oh, no, no, no!" I
panicked as I wondered about what I could possibly do. Andrew was getting closer and
closer to me. I tossed my purse underneath the table and ducked under the table quickly.
I felt a tap of my shoulder and I winced. "Oh, why, hello, I was
just getting my purse, there, And-" I started to say. When I looked up, I gave a sigh
of relief as I realized it was Anthony.
"Cassandra, I need to speak with you." He said. I stood on my
tiptoes to see above his shoulder. I saw Andrew at the resteraunt doorway, talking to
Andrea.
Andrea's eyes widened as she saw me and gasped. Andrew turned around
just as I ducked, covering my face with my hands.
"Cassandra!" Anthony admonished me. "Have you been
listening to me at all?"
"Um..." I looked downwards. He sighed and sat down, motioning
for me to do the same. He began, "I'm sorry for the way I behaved before. I was
completely ungentlemanly. But it's my first date in a long time, you see. So, Cassandra,
what I'm trying to say is that-" He stopped and then questioned annoyingly, "Are
you listening to me?"
I, meanwhile, had been bouncing up and down in my seat, trying to catch
a glimpse of what Andrew was wearing without him seeing me, which is a hard thing since he
was facing me.
"Cassandra!" Anthony grabbed my hand. "What?" I
snapped. He raised his eyebrows. "I'm sorry, I'll listen, I promise. Continue,
please." I sneaked one last look before devoting my attention to Anthony.
"All right," He continued, "As I was saying, I'm sorry
for the way I behaved. I'd like to make it up to you by taking you out dancing tonight. I
dance much better than I speak. I'll let my dance speak for me and at the end of the night
if you still feel you would rather not go out with me again, I'll understand."
"I'm sorry, I can't-wait. How did you know I was thinking of
dumping you?"
"Um, well, Cassandra.." He paused for a moment. I gasped as a
blurry vision floated before my eyes. Anthony was in the bathroom, but in the mirror there
was a face that wasn't his. It was a evil sinister face, and it was lecturing Anthony,
"You were too harsh with the girl. You need to be the man of her dreams, so she will
trust you and you can take her over. She's thinking of dumping you. You must not let that
happen! Go back, fix it, and don't come back without her trust!" The face dissapeared
and I felt Anthony's hand close on mine. "Are you all right?" He asked,
concerned.
I nodded. It was just a silly daydream, I convinced myself, no part of
it was real.
"Now what's this about you not being able to go out with me
again?" He asked.
"I can't, I have plans with Andrew."
"Andrew?" Anthony's eyebrows shot up again, this time in
suspicion. My mind reeled as I thought of an acceptable excuse.
"He's a boy..I mean, of course, he's a boy, he's a friend, a good
friend, I mean...." I took a deep breath, "He's my brother."
"Oh. Well, I hope you have a nice time. Could I please have the
pleasure of the second date with you, anytime, perhaps at the movies?"
"Um...sure...tomorrow night would be fine." I glanced over
his shoulder and then at the clock. I was late! Just great. "Listen, I'm sorry, I'm
about to be late for my plans with my-brother, I'm sorry. I have to go now."
"All right. Let me walk you there at the very least."
"NO! I mean, no thank you. My brother is meeting me across the
street. No need for you to walk me there. It's all right, go on, I'll be fine. Bye!"
I waved him off and then, checking to make sure he was gone, hurried outside and tapped
Andrew on the shoulder.
"Hi!"
"Cassandra, you look lovely." He took my arm, "Shall we
go in?" He led me inside and I shook with deja vu when we were placed at the same
table Anthony
and I were.
The same waiter we had before came to take our orders. "Ms.
Mitchell?" He said lightly. "Have you forgotten something?"
Andrew raised his eyebrow. I gulped and smiled innocently, "No,
Raul, why would you ever say that?"
"Because-just a moment ago..." He stopped as a shook my head.
My eyes pleaded with him to cooperate. He shook his head and said softly, "Never
Mind. May I take your order?"
"Yes, I'll have the quesadillas with arroz con pollo." I
said, handing him my menu. "Muy bien," he answered. "And for your
gentleman?"
Andrew furrowed his brow. "This looks good. Culebra, anguila y
pies de anade. I'll take it!" Raul smiled mischievously but he accepted Andrew's menu
and left.
We chatted for a while. Andrew was very interested in my friends and my
life and such. We connected on the fact that we both immensely enjoyed go-cart racing. I
even told him about my secret hiding place in the park. He promised never to tell if I let
him see it sometime. Before long, our food arrived.
"Your quesadillas," Raul said, setting my plate in front of
me.
"And your culebra, anguila y pies de anade." Raul set a
silver plate before Andrew, covered with a lid. He lifted the lid and Andrew scooted his
chair backwards.
His draw dropped and I snickered. "Andrew, Andrew,
you-you..."
"What is this?" Andrew asked, poking something blubbery with
his fork.
"Your culebra, anguila y pies de anade." Raul repeated.
"Snake, eel, and duck feet."
Andrew gasped in horror. I burst out with laughter and Raul bowed and
said, "I hope you like it, senor." He departed shortly.
"I-I can't eat this." Andrew said faintly.
"I'm sorry, Andrew, I should have warned you before. Listen, we
can leave if you like. I have a feeling that all this fancy stuff isn't your style."
I picked up my purse. Andrew nodded, and we paid and left.
We strolled down 5th avenue for a while. "Oh, Andrew, look!"
I pointed down the street where there was a small carnival.
"Go carts!" He exclaimed. "Let's go!"
He grabbed my hand and we raced down towards the go-carts. We had a
wonderful time bumping into each other and knocking each other off course. I had a
wonderful time. Before long, we got hungry again, and so we grabbed a burger. We couldn't
find a table at the busy fast food resteraunt, so I suggested to take him back to my place
in the park.
Andrew's eyes widened as he stared up at the treehouse. "That's so
cool! God, I wish I had something like this when I was a kid."
"Wait here!" I climbed up quickly, flicked on the lights and
grinned at Andrew as I watched his eyes widen with amazement at the treehouse all glittery
in the light. He sped up the ladder and threw himself into the treehouse. We had fun
exploring my treehouse and I even showed Andrew some of my drawings. All too soon, it was
nearing 10 o'clock, and I had promised Chessy I would be home by then. Andrew decided to
take me home and just as I was walking up my driveway, Andrew called out to me, "Want
to go out with me again Sunday morning?" Staring down at the ground, hands in his
pockets, he said so softly I almost couldn't hear him, "If you even like me after the
fool I've made out of myself tonight."
I turned around and walked back to him, "Well, I did think you
were a little bit of a goof tonight." Andrew's smile faded. "But I'll go out
with you Sunday morning just so you can prove me wrong." I continued.
He grinned. "Yeah? Well, great! I'll meet you at your treehouse.
See ya then!" Andrew's grin stretched from ear to ear and he looked as if he could
run all the way home and not get tired at all.
I was pretty happy myself as I turned the key in the door and let
myself in. My happiness died away almost instantly as I discovered Luna and Serena waiting
impatiently for me in my front hallway.
"Come to ruin my life some more?" I said sarcastically.
"No, we've come to save your life." Serena snapped.
"Unless you'd rather face Kallesena without proper training. If you'd rather be
prepared, meet us at Andrea's house tomorrow afternoon."
"Tomorrow's Sunday! Which means I have a date tomorrow morning and
night! I won't have time for training!" I exclaimed.
"It's your desicion. Get killed. See if I care! Some big sister
you are." Serena stormed out with Luna on her heels.
I stomped upstairs to my room. Flopping onto the bed, I sighed for the
fiftieth time that day and wondered what I did to deserve being in this mess.
