Sakura's Song By Sailor Serenity

Chapter 3

"Peruru!" Rini exclaimed, in complete surprise.
"Hi, Rini. I'm happy to see you again. I can't stay long, though."
"Was it you? Was it you who gave me the song?"
"Yes, Rini, it was supposed to help you. Help you with the gift for Princess Sakura. When you didn't understand, I had to come and tell you myself. I'm glad, though. I missed you, Rini."
Rini smiled. "I'm glad you came, Peruru. I missed you too. What was the message you sent?"
"Well, something to do with music would be perfect for a gift. Princess Sakura loves music."
"Thank you, Peruru. Want to go sit and talk in the garden?"
"I can't, I told you, I couldn't stay long. I have to protect the dreams of children, all over the world. I was here in Crystal Tokyo and thought I'd come see you."
"Oh." Rini felt sad. She didn't want Peruru to leave so soon. "Will you be back?"
"Maybe." Peruru thought for a minute. "Yes. I will be back. One more thing, I think the one thing Princess Sakura wants, and needs most for her birthday is a true friend."
    "What do you mean?"
"She's always alone. I don't think she has many friends." Peruru floated up into the air. "Look for me in your dreams, Rini. See you soon."
"Bye Peruru! I know just what to do. I hope you come back soon!" Rini smiled and waved to Peruru as he flew off into the moonlight.
Rini thought about what Peruru had said. It made her sad to think that poor Princess Sakura probably spent most of her time in the Saturn Palace, alone. Rini was used to having friends, someone she could talk to. Sakura didn't have that. Tears came to Rini's eyes, just thinking about the lonely princess. She went over to the dresser and took her favorite music box from the top. She sat on her bed and opened it, listening to the song that played. It was her favorite, a gift from her parents for her birthday. Just then it hit her.
"Music..." Rini thought. She got up and put the music box on the dresser again. She spent the whole night thinking until she finally fell asleep.
Flute music played. Princess Sakura looked around outside the balcony. She didn't know where the sound was coming from. Suddenly, she saw something moving on the balcony. The same strong wind hit her, only it knocked her down.
"What's happening?" Sakura shouted. Just then, a rainbow light flew in and bounced off the walls. It came to a stop near Sakura. She sat up and watched it. "Whoa, what's going on?"
Peruru appeared. He bowed to the princess. "Princess Sakura-"
"Who are you? Why are you here? What's going on?"
"My name is Peruru. I'm a fairy from the dream world. I have something for you."
"Peruru? Y-you're a fairy?" Sakura got to her feet. She was scared. She loved fairies, but never thought one would actually show up. "I can't believe this. Wow!" Sakura smiled. "A real fairy? You're not joking?"
Peruru shook his head. "No joke. I wouldn't be able to fly if I was joking."
"Can you do something magical?" Sakura asked. She still wasn't sure whether she should believe it.
Peruru pulled out his flute and played her favorite song. The one she was always humming. Colorful butterflies flew in the balcony and around the room, then out again. Sakura watched, surprised.
    "Wow, that was so cool!"
Peruru smiled, then played another short tune, and a locket appeared. It had the Saturn symbol on it.
"The sign of Saturn," Sakura whispered. Peruru handed the locket to her.
"This is for you, an early birthday present."
"Wow, thank you!" Sakura put it on. "Thank you so much, it means a lot to me." Just then, Sakura thought of something. "Will you come to my birthday ball? It's in two days."
"Sure, I'll try to come." Peruru smiled. "I have to leave now. Good-bye, Sakura. See you on your birthday."
"Bye, Peruru. Thank you for the locket!" Peruru flew back to the Dream World.

Rini went to the main room of the palace, looking for her mother. She noticed Neo-Queen Serenity sitting in the garden, looking at the rose garden. Rini went out to the garden.
"Can we go for a walk?" Rini asked.
    "Where to?"
"A store. I know the perfect gift for Sakura. Please?"
"I wish we could, Little Rabbit, but we are expecting company today."
Rini's face fell. "Princess Sakura's birthday is tomorrow! I don't have a gift for her."
"Maybe Mrs. Moore can take you. Why don't you ask her?"
Rini became hopeful once again. She bowed and left the garden. She found Mrs. Moore in the main room.
Rini started explaining as fast as she could. "Mrs. Moore, Princess Sakura's birthday is tomorrow, I don't have a present and Mommy can't take me to the store and I was wondering if maybe you could?"
"Slow down, Rini. Yes, I'll take you. Just hang on a second. Get your jacket." Rini already had her jacket. She waited impatiently for Mrs. Moore to finish up and get her jacket. Then, they left.
When they got to the jewelry store, Rini went straight to a display of music boxes. She found the right one, the one that was perfect for Sakura. When she opened it, it played the tune she played on the piano the other day. It was light pink with cherry blossoms on it.
"You can have it personalized, if you want," the jewelry store owner said.
    "Really?"
"Yes. Would you like it personalized?"
Rini nodded. "Can you put Princess Sakura on it in fancy writing?"
"Yes, of course. It will be ready tomorrow morning."
    "Perfect!"
That night, Queen Rei was the first to arrive with Princess Kayla.
"Did you decide on what to get Sakura?" Kayla asked Rini.
"Yes, I decided today. It will be ready tomorrow, in time for her birthday."
    "What is it?"
    "You'll see tomorrow."
Just then, Queen Ami and Princess Amanda came. It was time for dinner, and Rini was relieved that no one asked any further questions about her present for the Saturn Princess.
Rini opened her music box and listened to the song. She took out a special friendship bracelet from one of the compartments. She hadn't given the other half to anyone yet. Remembering Peruru's words, she decided she would give half to Sakura.
