The day Daani left was a very sad one indeed, and Carrie felt like she would never be happy again without him with her, but somehow she managed to keep it all together whilst waving maniacally at Daani, who sat with Remus and his lot whilst they journeyed to Hogwarts.
They travelled back to Tipperary Cottage both with heavy hearts.
Connor had made sure Daani had gone with a Quidditch book and all his new things, which included his first owl, which he had emphatically called Nibanna. Connor held Carrie's hand as they journeyed back down the sand stone path towards the cottage, ready for some tea and then and early night for Carrie. But there was someone waiting for them…

A small wicker basket lay on the front door step, and inside were lilac blankets and a small scrap of parchment lay. But among those blankets was a baby. A beautiful fair-haired little girl. Connor simply stared at this tiny baby and took the piece of parchment that lay with her. Carrie too stared and wondered at the reasoning that someone would leave a baby on their front step, but then her father answered,
"Oh my god! She's mine."
"Papa?" Carrie whispered, "How can she be your baby? Who's the mum?"
If her father ever had flushed, now was that time. He picked up the small child and said,
"Well, her mummy left her for us to look after Honey Bee, she's your little sister."
Carrie felt her legs go weak and jealousy run through her, she was the youngest one here, and now this person just turns up and leaves this girl here for them to look after?
Then Carrie looked that this little baby and felt nothing but love. This person was her responsibility, and she would make sure that she grew up to be an excellent witch.
"What shall we call her Honey?" her father said, rather hoarsely.
"Lexie." Carrie replied simply, "Alexandria, but we'll call her Lexie."
"OK, sweetie." And with that Lexie announced her arrival by crying out for some milk. So they swept into the house.

Now it was Carrie's turn to feel apprehensive, she was three years older and her mind and gift felt more mature than they had that night when Lexie had first appeared. And now she sat on Carrie's bed, her fair hair tied messily back as she played with her doll set; Carrie's old one. Her indigo eyes wandered curiously from Carrie's Yew wand to all her black robes and then to her new Barn owl, named Metta.
"Carrie, where are you going?' her large indigo eyes looking right into Carrie's own golden ones.
"I'm going to Wizarding School, to learn to become a witch. You will be able to come in eight years."
Lexie stuck out her bottom lip as Daani walked into the room. Daani was now a tall and well built 14 year-old about to start his fourth year at Hogwarts. His handsome looks had got even more so and he was captain of his Quidditch team. As soon as Lexie saw him she flung out her arms and let Daani pick her up, which he did with ease.
"Do you have everything Carr?" he said, his voice now husky like their father's.
"Yep, I think so. Thanks for teaching me those spells though Daani, I learnt a few more from all of my text books." She looked up and smiled at him.
"Carr! That's what Hogwarts is for, to learn the spell! You've learnt your whole first year education in there! But…' he smiled and looked down at her, 'you're the brightest witch I know, you'll go far."
"Thanks Daani!" Carrie beamed at him, "Can I sit with you tomorrow?"
"Course."

The train station was extremely busy that next morning, and through the excitement Carrie saw both her father and her sister with tears in their eyes. Daani seated himself and Carrie with Remus and his friends. During the long train ride only Carrie and Remus were left in the train compartment.
"How are you feeling Remus?" Carrie asked, as she checked the full moon every night since those three years ago when Remus had stayed with her.
"Alright thank you. Are you nervous?" he replied, his warm whisky eyes glowing in the train light
She felt herself blush a little and smiled, "Yeah a little, but I'm really excited." Then she paused and hesitated. Remus saw this and gestured her to go on,
"How is the…other side of you?"
"It's manageable thanks. I do feel there is a certain amount of resentment towards werewolves though, so I know I can trust in your secrecy."
"I won't tell. I can sympathise with you though," she said, "but I don't think I'll fully understand what you go through, well may be…"
"Why? He said, looking curious and concerned, "you haven't been…bitten? Have you?" he said.
"No," she smiled, "But I have a special thing that I can do." She looked at him, "I can read people's minds."
He frowned slightly, "Read people's minds? Are you sure?"
"Yes, it's all in the eyes." she opened her eyes wider and Remus peered into them. He gasped and said,
"I've never seen anything like them. So…" he said smiling slightly, "What am I thinking right now."
"Your thinking that I'm crazy and I'm making it up." She smiled at him, "it's a shame you doubted me." She sat upright a little more and dazzled him with another cheeky smile.
Remus just sat there with his mouth hanging open, " Amazing. I'm sorry I didn't believe you Carr."
"Well you know what Remus?  Werewolves are not that bad." And with that she kissed his cheek and ran off to change into her robes, blushing furiously.
