Expectations have been soaring for the second instalment of the Harry Potter films and with small additions to the successful cast of the first film (Mark Williams - Arthur Weasley, The fast show, Shakespeare In Love etc and Miriam Margoyles - Professor Sprout.) superior to the first film in effects, gripping the audience and overall acting, were all-superb. In parts I felt passion was lacking especially in one part of the film and fear wasn't at the point it should have been in general if people are being found petrified in your school with no explanation for it. At some times the acting was quite wooden. Leaps were made in the storyline, which made the film flow a lot less smoothly than the first film, but was considerably shorter, (2hrs, 40mins) because of this. With parts of unexpected action and really convincing spiders and snakes, young children may find this too frightening and be reduced to tears. Also with the film there is one guaranteed tear jerker (say nothing Lear - Wolfy) (if you have a heart) and proves why the two characters involved were perfect for their roles. With wonderful new sets and comedy, but still with a lack of interest of the secondary characters, the Weasley family, Peeves, the teachers, Wood etc, who all play big parts in the books but are overlooked in the film, maybe an extended DVD/Video is needed for the older Potter fans, who want to see the whole book as a film, completely true to the book. Overall I was impressed, with lots of action, surprisingly realistic monsters, I could have easily sat through another 3hrs of the film. Lockhart was refreshing to watch in the performance and was true to the book, like you couldn't imagine!
