Choices

Choices.
Determining life’s outcome.
Hoping that with each one,
Positive results occur.
One bad decision,
One fatal error,
And everything changes.
Once sailing on smooth seas,
Now struggling in a tumultuous ocean.
The captain of my vessel,
Going down with the ship.
Facing the consequences of my actions,
Maturing with each toss and turn.
Praying with each crest,
That the worst is over,
And the sun will once again shine upon me.
I can sail only so long,
Before the sun permanently sets,
On this often to short a voyage.
My boat shall be docked and destroyed,
Goodbyes said.
I will be off to the everlasting sunset,
And hope that the choices I have made along the way,
Brought me to my desired destination.
