| O gentle moon, be kind with me, Let your silver hair shine bright. Carry me softly where I may go, Lighten my path in the darkest night. The rocky road is cast with shadow, Danger surrounds the very heart. Cover me with your radiant glow, As for home we make a start. The moon is full for me, Not a cloud across the sky. Stars sweep the finite canvas, With moonbeams for my pleasing eye. Don't let the cloud pass over, Be there to light my way. Cast away the doubt and sorrow, And hold all the fears at bay. When my dearest one has left me, Walked from my life outside the door. I know the gentle moon will call, And shine it's light once more. Comfort me, O gentle moon, Wrap your light round me.
