Keeper Of The Stars

With just the raging ocean,
And the lunar sky in view,
I wonder about all that has gone before,
Why I walk with no one there.

Though the star gazes down upon me,
I'm in my own world tonight,
Wishing I could step back in time,
To correct the damage done.

We have just one chance in this life of ours,
And the wrong thing said or done,
Can mean so much harm to those we love,
Unable to restore the joy we had.

One wrong step, that's all it was,
Enough to cause the wound,
But it was a mortal blow to the love we had,
Once struck,  could not be healed.

I asked my darling to forgive the sin,
Though she looked with contempt and scorn,
Then threw my case outside the door,
And turned her back on me.

Moonstruck am I upon the beach,
The night offers shelter from my sins,
But moonbeams shine down and seek me out,
As if to highlight my guilty soul.

Where do I go from this place?
Has the world no use of me?
The past has the choices that I've made,
That I'll regret forevermore.

The future has the only harbour,
Where I'll learn from all my flaws,
Yes, I'll be a better person then,
Though the woman I love will not be there.

Walking along the endless beach,
The full moon shines  itself on me,
As moonbeams show the way to go,
And I tread the path to a brand new day.
