The Scarf
by Myself
The gathering starts for what lies ahead,
For the knights all know their task.
To go forth from this castle of theirs,
And face a danger no one will ask.

One knight has another task to do,
Before he leaves the gate.
To talk to his fair maiden,
His ever-loving Kate.

"Though I be gone, sweet lady mine,
My love will remain here next to you.
No other woman shall touch my heart,
For I'll be forever true."

Kate presents a red scarf to her knight,
"Wear this against evil and the cold.
Whenever you face danger there,
I'll be wrapped around to hold."

The weeks go by, nothing is heard
Of the Company that left before.
Lonely times for Kate to cry,
About a knight that went to war.

Kate attends to her blossoming garden,
The fairest flowers all around.
A special seed is growing,
A new life in her is found.

One morn, she wakes  and suddenly sees,
A very special knight,
Who places on her bed his charm,
A red scarf  of shining bright.
