This is me in a "wet" Zorb. I am inside this huge plastic ball trying to remain standing while rolling down the hill. Pretty Fun!!!

We awoke to a very rainy, overcast, and overall dreary day. It rained on and off (mostly on) all day and had put a damper on all of our plans. We took advantage of the time in the morning (waiting for the rain to stop) to let Erin catch up on journals while I read. I am currently reading "Kiss the Girls" by James Patterson which is a pretty good read. I seem to like the murder mystery / police detective type books. I require the suspense and the "who done it" types so I can be challenged while I read. I finally got restless around 11:30 am so we had to go somewhere.

We headed into town to look for an internet cafe but I decided to pass on the idea as we would have to pay a parking meter and a similiar rate as we could have paid at the hostel that we were staying at. Instead we headed out of town to check out Hell's Gate. Hell's Gate has mud baths and spas along with a geothermal hot springs that naturally buble up through mud. Once we arrived at Hell's Gate it was still raining pretty good so we decided against going in. We wouldn't be able to take any good photos and Erin wasn't totally interested in a mud bath. It sounds good to me!!!

We had seen a sign for an indoor mini golf and go karting track on the way out of town so we stopped in there on the way back in to town. It was a good way to spend a riny day, indoors!! We reserved ourselves a spot at 4:30 pm for the go kart track then went into town for lunch. We found a shopping complex with a food court and we shared an "All you can eat" dish for lunch. After lunch we spent an hour and a half at an internet cafe checking e-mails and just wasting away the time until it was time to return to the go kart track.

We were back at the go kart track around 4:00 pm and watched until they called us at 4:30 pm for our turn on the track. We suited up with overalls and a helmet along with 4 other people that would be running around the track with us. The track had one long straightaway and 5 corners with passing possible on the straight away and a few of the corners. I took of third but it didin't take me long to pass the girls in front of me as they were not as comfortable with the go-karts right away. I passed Erin a few times but I was a little reckless at times as well. We spun around the track for 30 minutes which ended up being longer than we really needed. Twenty minutes would have been fine as we were getting tired at that point. It was a fun activity on a rainy day in Rotorua. After go-karting we played a game of mini golf before heading back into town. Oh yeah, Erin dod beat me at a game of pinball today but that was about it!!!

In town stops included the Pic & Save grocery store and a KFC for dinner. We were craving xome greasy American food so KFC solved the problem. We had take-away so we ate dinner in our room. After dinner included writing journals and readin g our books before retiring for the evening. It is still raining and very cool tonight. We will decide to go to Taupo (if it is sunnier) or Napier (if it is still raining) in the morning.
