Today we are planning to return to Cairns where we have a luxury accomodation awaiting for the Valentines weekend. We can't wait!!! We were packed and on our way by 10:00 am which would have us arrive into Cairns around 2:00 pm, including a stop in Port Douglas for a few hours. The drive to Port Douglas was uneventful and included the occassional rainshower. Once at Port Douglas we found parking and spent the next few hours enjoying lunch and window shopping. You can definitely tell that it is low season here in North Queensland as some shops are closed for holiday and there are very few tourists on the street. There are plenty of bargains and markdowns as well. We finished and were on our way around 1:15 pm.

We arrived into Cairns around 2:00 pm (check in time) but first stopped at the grocery store to stock up for the weekend. We bought food for a few dinners, breakfast, including eggs, and lunches. We had plans to celebrate Valentine's Day and check out the Karanda market while we are in Cairns but otherwise just relax. We must be wearing down as relaxing sounds more enjoyable than trying to run around and seeing everything possible. We also could not afford it even if we wanted to.

We arrived at the condominum and were checked in by 3:00 pm. Erin's bum was still hurting from the sunburn from yesterday so she opted to relax in doors the rest of the day. I joined her for a while before ending up at one of the three pools that were available. I enjoyed the pool for a few hours while Erin napped. I returned to the room around 6:30 pm where Erin and I prepared dinner before relaxing in front of the television for the evening. We had no plans for tomorrow as Erin would still be hurting from the sunburn. (I should have taken a photo to show you all but I didn't!!) We could sleep in if we wanted.

Happy Valentine's Day!! Friday morning and we awake to luxury. We slept in until 8:00 am and spent the morning relaxing around the apartment. We were still there when the maids showed up to change our sheets, towels, and even wash our dishes for us. We had not stayed in any accomodation this posh since we started the trip so we are very pleased. The only item on the agenda today was a nice romantic dinner for the two of us. We are in love and this is meant to be a romantic day isn't it?
We finally got going around noon and headed into the main part of Cairns where we spent a few hours window shopping and some internet before returning to the condo around 4:00 pm. This gave me enough time to catch a swim at the pool and overall relax by the pool for a few hours. I returned to the apartment around 6:00 pm and we casually and slowly prepared for our dinner date. There were a few places recommended to us along the Esplanade and we ran across the Matson Plaza first so we decided to stop. We enjoyed the buffet steak and seafood dinner with a bottle of wine. It wasn't as romantic as I would have liked but we are on a budget. We will make up for this in Fiji in a few weeks. After dinner we checked out the night market in town before returning to our condo for the evening. We arrived home just after 11:00 pm.
