This moring we slept in until 8:00 am. We didn't have any specific plans for this morning and Erin was ready for a day of relaxation. We do have plans to go sailing later today, weather permitting, and have a barbeque tonight with Steve and Diane's brother Richard and his wife Paula and kids. More family to meet but, again, we look very forward to it!! Erin read a book that she had picked up off the shelf here in the house so she had to finish before we leave in the morning. I spent the morning writing journals while enjoying the view from the house. Erin, Sarah, and I did go into town to pick up some groceries for tonight but that only took a little over an hour or so. We returned home at 3:00 pm where Steve was waiting for us. Sarah, Steve, and I went sailing in the bay for a few hours before returning home around 5:30 pm. I wish we had more time as a full day of sailing around Tasmania would have been wonderful. We had to work our way back in to dock as the wind died down just as we started in.

Dinner plans tonight include meeting Steve's brother Richard and his wife Paula, and the kids John, Charlotte, and Henry. The weather was a little overcast so I helped Steve put up some rain cover over the back deck so we could still barbeque tonight. Richard's family joined us around 7:30 pm but Richard showed up a little later as he had to complete some work before he could join us. We sat around the whole evening just getting to know more about each other. It was nice to meet them. We finally crashed around 11:30 pm.

Saturday morning and we are preparing to head off to Cradle Mountain. We have a very busy day scheduled so we should get an early start. We didn't leave from Liz and Steve's house until after 10:00 am where our first stop was at Richard and Paula's place. They showed us around the property including their 3 horses and the beautiful view of the bay that they have from the house. Richard, Henry, and I went for a walk along the beach while Erin spent time chatting with Paula, Charlotte, and John. We apologized that we didn't have more time to visit but we had scheduled to meet some friends (that we met in Brugge) at the Salamanca market at noon. We departed around 11:15 am for the drive to Salamanca market.

We arrived near the market, found parking, and had made our way to the market with minutes to spare. We even found the water fountain that our friends had mentioned where we would meet. We waited for 10 minutes or so but did not see our friends Jeremy and Jacqui. I waited at the water fountain and sent Erin to check on another location nearer the Antartic Explorers store that we had seen coming in. Sure enough she returned to say that she had found them at another fountain closer to the Antartic Explorer than the one we had found. We apologized for our delay and joined them along with their baby Hewen on the grass. We chatted for quite a while enjoying the beautiful day before we headed into the market. The market is well known and was recommended by my mother as a must see. Most of the stalls along the market are more arts and crafts along with the section of fruits and vegetables. We did not buy anything in particular, except lunch.

By 2:00 pm we decided that we better start heading out of town as the drive to Cradle Mountain, our final destination today was about 5 hours away. After a few stops including gasoline and groceries we were finally on our way. The drive was along the Great Lakes road and provided some beautiful scenery. The drive took 5 hours as we arrived at camp around 8:00 pm. Once we arrived we checked in only to learn that Marcel and Eveline would not arrive unitl tomorrow night. We did appreciate that they saved us the reservation though!! The cabin was very nice, and since Marcel and Eveline were not there we decided to take the double bed. We spent the rest of the evening watching a movie and just plain relaxing. It was a long day but the sun was shining all day long including here at Cradle Mountain. I can't wait to go on the hike tomorrow.
