The Adam/God doctrine seems to be a very sensitive subject among LDS authorities. I put this here only so that the thoughtful LDS member can ponder over the facts of the subject. As a person who is well learned in LDS apologetics I have learned the meaning of objectivity. I have learned how to argue and address facts as well as how to identify bad arguements, sophistry, rehetoric and all manner of elusive trickery and decietful behavior which opponents of the truth are known to use. I cannot tell you what to do or how to feel but I can warn you that what you are about to learn here will forever change your mind about how objective the LDS authorities can be on a matter such as this. Be warned that no church official will make any serious attempt to address the matter. This matter and how it effects you will be your own private ordeal. If you prefer to ignore the truth and the facts once in a while in order to feel secure in your faith then please for your own sake and peace of mind READ NO FURTHER.

THE LDS AUTHORITIES WILL NOT HONESTLY , SERIOUSLY, OR OBJECTIVELY ADDRESS THE MATTER TO ANY DEGREE THAT WOULD SATISFY A MIND THAT REQUIRED THOUGHTFUL DETAILED REPLIES TO VERY SERIOUS QUESTIONS. I HAVE READ NEARLY EVERY ARTICLE ON INTEREST ON THIS SUBJECT THAT CAN BE FOUND IN THE J.O.D. YOU MAY DECIDE DIFFERENTLY AFTER YOU HAVE READ ALL AVAILABLE DATA BUT MY OPINION IS THAT IT DOES NOT LOOK GOOD FOR ANY STANCE THAT THE CHURCH CHOOSES TO SUBSTANTIATE ITS CURRENT POSITION WITH. BE WARNED THAT COMMUNICATION WITH OTHER CHURCH MEMBERS ON THIS SUBJECT CAN AND WILL MOST LIKELY LAND YOU IN A BISHOPS OFFICE. MEMBERS HAVE BEEN EXCOMMUNICATED FOR NOT LEAVING THE SUBJECT ALONE.
Most members of the LDS have no knowledge of this subject nor would they if it were possible for the authorities to erase it. Fortunately for us though erasing history is hard to do. Given time it will become harder and harder to find the facts. Even more fortunate for us, the enemies of mormonism appear unable to grasp that this is in-fact our weakest point of vulnerability. Should they ever realize this and latch on they will have a very powerful weapon with which to bludgeon our weaker members with. The Journal of Discourses is currently out of print. Only used copies and those who have info bases software are around to be had today (I suggest you find a copy). Also , The lectures on faith which 'used' to be part of the cannon can be very hard to find. There is alot more to found on this subject than I will ever put on this site.
The Adam God Doctrine was preached to the early LDS by none other than Brigham Young himself. A true prophet of God as well as the president of the church. The doctrine was held in place until sometime after John Taylors death. It was only then that the doctrine began to become diminished. By the early 1900's the doctrine is all but forgotten. This doctrine is and was a serious matter. There were many in the church that did not accept or understand the doctrine in its day. The church did enforce the teaching of it though despite President Hinckley's unsurity of whether or not the doctrine was ever taught. People were in fact thrown out of the membership for not accepting it.
So just what is this doctrine? Ok, here we go.
* Adam & Eve came to this Earth as resurrected beings from another world.
* They lived on another world and fulfilled the plan of salvation & exaltation by living the gospel.
* Upon attaining their exaltation they were given the opportunities to become a Heavenly Father & Heavenly Mother. They organized intelligence, begat spirits, & organized a new round of creation.
* In the endowment there are two Godheads. One is the creation Godhead consisting of Elohim [Adam's Grandfather], Jehovah [Adam's Father] & Michael [Adam himself]. People assume that because Jehovah played the Redeemer role on Adam's world that he is in fact the same person we know as Jesus Christ. Jehovah holds the same OFFICE as Jesus Christ, so in reality for us there would be no discernible distinction, except for the fact that they are two individuals.
* The other Godhead is the temporal Godhead. This consists of Father Adam,Jesus Christ, & the Holy Ghost or Witness/Testator. Whenever one of the members of the temporal Godhead is on this side of the veil one of the members of the Eloheim is "filling in" for them.
* Eve is our Mother in Heaven, she is a resurrected celestial being (hence a Goddess). However we do not pray to her because it is contrary to the order of the Priesthood which extends on both sides of the Veil.
* Jesus Christ is Adam's son physically & spiritually. Jesus is Adam's firstborn son after the manner of the spirit & his only begotten after the manner of the flesh. Christ called himself the Son of Man which in Hebrew is Ben [Son of] Adam [Man]

The Adam/ God doctrine. What is called the Adam / God doctrine should not be interpreted in the genre of dogmatic orthodoxy. The word " doctrine " refers more to a constellation of teachings which express a cohesive ideology or belief about the divinity of Adam. Although a fullness has as yet been revealed, we have sufficient information from the teachings of church prophets to construct a fairly complete outline of the concepts that ideology or doctrine embodies. These concepts, pertaining exclusivly to the Gods within the external patriarchal order, include: A: God our father is a being currently abiding laws of eternal progression. He, like us, will continue to progress through all eternity; hence , eternal progression. B: God the father merited his current status as a diety through obedience to laws of progression the same as you and I are now attempting to do. 1. This means that God was once a man like us. 2. That he lived a mortal existance and now is analogous to our present existence. 3. There he obeyed and kept the celestial law. 4. In that existence, he recieved an effication of an atonement through a savior. 5. Having kept the celestial, he was ressurected with a celestial glory having the promise of eternal increase. 6. He assumed his postion among the Gods in the eternal patriarchal order. 7. As a member of the patriarichal Gods, he commenced the realization of his promised blessing by becoming a spiritual creater under the council and direction of his patriarchal superiors. A: known then as Michael, he recieved the direction and keys from his father to commence a spiritual creation. B: the spiritual creation included mankind and all life that dwells on the earth. C: as the father of our spirits, it was "michaels" responsibility to oversee and direct our spiritual progression. D: Jesus Christ, You and I are the progeny of that spirit creation and are all of the same spirit creation , brothers and sisters. E: another council was held to plan the temporal creation. in this council Jesus Christ was chosen to be the atoning savior for his fathers creation. 8. The father, Michael, proceeded with the temporal phase of creation which was necessary for the progression of his spiritual creations. 9. The temporal creationincluded a world of gross matter by organization and all life forms with physical tabernacles provided by procreation through transplantation from another physical world. 10. Human life was transplanted from another world to this earth by the following schema: 10a: Michael, our spirit father, became adam after having been prepared and placed in the garden of eden under the direction of God (michaels patriarchial father). 10 b: His preparation included a "veil of forgetfullness " concerning his former existence. 10c: Adam "fell" from a higher or more exalted state of existence to a lower state. 1. Exactly how the fall was effected and what the symbology represents are conjectural; however, the concept is that Adams celestial body was redered mortal such that he could then procreate physical tebernacles for his spirit offspring. 2. The fall may have been effected by Adams partaking of course elements of this earth until his body became "charged" with the seeds of mortality. 3. As mortal beings Adam and Eve began procreating temporal bodies for their spiritual bodies to inhabot. In this way, human life was brought to another reach of the universe on a procreative basis. 11. Having accomplished his mortal mission, Adam, possessing the keys and power over death from a previous resurrection, effected transition from motality to his former glorified state. 12. This same father, who has been known as Michael and Adam, later appeared to an overshadowed Mary in the meridian of time, fathering our savior Jesus Christ as the only begotten of the father in the flesh. 13. prior to the mellenium, Adam our father will appear at Adam-Ondi-Ahman. all , including Chrst, who have held the keys will stand before him and give unto Adam an accounting of their stewardships. a: Adam will increase Christ's stewardship to include the entire world , giving Christ power and authority to reign for 1000 years. b: Adam will confer upon Christ the keys of the univers. 14. Adam "michael" has power over Satan and will ultimately rout the forced of evil, banishing them to perdition forever. 15 Adam is Michael will initiate the resurrection with the sound of his trumpet. 16. At the end of the world, Christ renders up his kingdom to father Adam, who in turn renders his kingdom to his father and so on. Father Adam then advances by inheriting his fathers kingdom just as Christ inherits his fathers "Adams" kingdom. In this way the savior treads in the tracks of Adam just as Adam treads in the tracks of his father and so on. 17. As resurrected beings who have kept the celestial law with the promise of eternal increase , we may have the opportunity of becoming the Adams' and Eve's to other worlds.
