So, are vampires mortal or immortal?

First thing, what do you mean by immortality? generally i have found two groups that claim or support the idea of vampiric immortality. The first group talks about physical immortality, the second group talks about immortality of the soul.

Physical immortality: Some refer to the enhanced physical power and endurance of vampires or the possibley longevity as immortality, but that's only a misnomination.

Others claim that vampires specially those who are Royals or Purebloods suppsedly
(two vampire ranks, Royals are supposed to be descendants of the original vampires God knows who those are!,while Purebloods are supposed to be descendants of someone turned by a Royal, as if you can turn someone at all!) are actually immortal and never die, that they only look older after long time as some kind of camouflage against human suspicions, and that vampires who die are not pureblooded, that  the human blood destroys the vampire blood after some time subjecting them to death as other mundanes.. My answer to those is playing too much RPGs has a nasty effect on your brain cells on the long run!. Vampires die like everyone else, don't believe anyone who says otherwise, and if you think you won't die because you are a vampire, please seek help!

Soul immortality: I have found that majority of vampires claiming immortaliity are talking about immortality of the soul, usually through reincarnation while the physical body dies.
Well, personaly I don't believe inreincarnation, but regardless this point, even if it was true, it stil does not relate to immortality.Immortal means that someone is not subject to death, while in reincarnation theory the person dies then his soul moves into another body, so death is included in the process.

Someone says it's only the body that dies but the soul does not, so giving that reincarnation is true, then doesn't this mean that everyone is immortal not just vampires!?, because who said that other peoples souls die? Infact death is not what happens to the body or the soul, whether reincarnation is true or not i believe souls don't die. What we call death is the process of the soul leaving the body, this separation between the two is what we call death, so where is immortality now?!

I tend to think that the myth of immortality is one of the greatest factors attracting people to vampirism, they crave immortality even if it has to be at such a cost of living a very hard and complicated life as a vampire, the only problem is, vampires don't get to be immortal, no body does.

Why would anyone want to be immortal? it could be anything starting from the incurable human curiosity to know how things are going to be in the future, to just wanting to feel superior or merely different, yet i think the reason that drives most of who crave immortality is the fear of death, they could admit it or not, it could be either a conscious or an subconscious fear, but it is there inside most of us including me.

We watch the world racing around us and worry about the time and the way by which we will have to leave it all behind, but sadly we don't want to face that fear, instead we practice the famous ostrich technique: What we do not see, is most probably not there, so we bury our heads in the myth of immortality hoping not to see death approaching us.

I do not want to sound too depressing, but eventually we ALL are going to die, so we better start dealing with this fact more maturely, face our demons, and try to get the most of what we can in our lives, love those who are around us, live as peacefully as we could. If we really have to relate to immortality then let it be through how people would remember us after we go, through our acheivements, deeds, love and tolerance for the world and for everyone, after all these are the only things that count no matter how long we live.

All say, "How hard it is that we have to die"-- a strange complaint to come from the mouths of people who have had to live.>

Few days ago, the international vampire community was shocked at the horrible news of death of Lord D'Drennan, the long time Regent of Court of Gotham and the legendary metal manipulator, who introduced the first Legacy Ankh design into the vampire community. Sadly I never had the honor of knowing him in person, but I have heared much of his kindness, creativity and contributions to our community.

Such a loss made me stop for a while and think about a lot of things,  and I thought of sharing these thoughts with everyone, of course death forced itself on my mind, along with a question: Why can't we just be immortal? or are vampires already immortal? if it is so then why the hell do we still die?

So here I am trying to discuss the vampire im/mortality subject from my own point of view, a point of view I know most vampires wouldn't like. Sorry guys but it is only what I believe in and I am ready to discuss it with anyone who wants to do so with an open mind.
