| MORTEM A.D. originally formed in 1989 under the name ASPHYXIA with original members Russ Cassidy (guitar), Matt Wagner (lead guitar/vocals), Robert Hampton (drums), and Charlie Byrd (Bass). Soon after their inception ASPHYXIA quickly gained a reputation for it's hook laden mosh rhythms and insane live shows! After more than 2 years together Rob, and Chuck parted ways to make way for Kevin Beuchard on drums and Matt taking over bass duties. Now as a three piece, the trio changed their name to MORTEM and began putting together some of the most legendary parties ever witnessed! The fan base grew with each show and MORTEM quickly became a local favorite for a kick ass moshin' good time! Mike Baker soon joined the ranks of MORTEM on lead guitar as the quartet unleashed its fury on Central Florida as of the like not seen before! In 1992 MORTEM packed up and moved to South Florida to pursue its dreams of Heavy Metal success! But alas, things didn't quite work out as planned an Matt was forced to move back to Central Florida leaving the band behind. After more than a year MORTEM once again moved back to Central Florida and aquired Mike "Slam" Ibel on vocals with Matt rejoining the band on Bass. Kevin and Slam would eventually depart from the band with Matt reclaiming his place on Bass and Vocals. Drummer after drummer applied but never could quite make the grade until Josh Kimes joined the group. By this time MORTEM decided to add "A.D" to its name (jokingly standing for 'another drummer'). After two years Josh was forced to leave the band making way for Steve Beserock. After a year and a half stint with Steve, he was dismissed and Josh rejoined. However, Billy "WINK" has since RE-JOINED the Mortem Brew Crew to continue the chaos! Now in the studio recording their debut album documenting more than a decade of METAL MAYHEM, MORTEM A.D. are set to release their debut album, and for the unsuspecting masses there will be NO... SALVATION!!! |
