Race Summary

We will no longer spoon-feed everyone with in-depth race reports, we are just gonna dish out a brief summary. If you all want to know exactly what happened, you are going to have to go out there and see for yourselfs.

What was dissapointing about this meet was the lack of competitors. riders such as Victor Handal, Richard Lee, Craig Beharry, David Phillips, and others did not show up to ride & have fun in front of the croud. It is understandable in such cases as Ryan Scott & Sebastian Ray , who had examinations the next day. But a majority of competitors were no-shows.

What was uplifting was the croud of spectators who showed up. These persons definitely got thier moneys worth of great racing and action. It is our firm belief that those who witnessed the races held at Woodliegh Raceway on June 20, are motocross fans for life.

80cc
Langdon swept all 3 Motos with John Ammar Jr. in 2nd, & Christian Sasso in 3rd. But not without a little trouble, in Moto-3 the croud witnessed the first pile-up they may have ever seen. Christian Sasso reached the first turn first, but went down & triggered a domino effect. After Sasso went Ammar to the ground, & then Langdon kissed the dirt during an attempt to ride over the two bikes which were in his way.

125cc

Although Philip Hadeed, Victor Handal, Craig Beharry, David Phillips, & even more riders did not show up for the 125cc event, Craig Powell, & Christian Sale did. Even though there were only 2 competitors, the croud still got a great show.
Moto-1 was a straight up runaway by Sale, who went from holeshot to checkerd flag, & established a good lead over Powell, who has been the man to beat in this class from these recent events (about 1 year or so now) where organised.

The next Moto started out the same, and it seemed as if Sale controlled it all. But on the final lap in the final corner, Christian Sale's front end washed out. Sale kept it up, but Powell motored around him. Sale made an awesome attempt to retake the lead when it seemed as if he had jumped pass Powell, but the official result was that it was Powell's Victory.
In the final Moto of the 125 class was set and the winner would take the overall. Powell surprised the announcer & probably Sale as well when he took the holeshot. Sale did not look as smooth and calm in the opening laps as he did in the previous races, but he then settled down, stayed smooth, and stayed close. By the 3rd lap Sale finallly got around Powell, and took both the Moto, and overall victory.

250cc
Here race action was dissolved once again by the lack of competitors. Regulars such as Richard Lee, and Wayne Mangue were no where to be seen. Here we only saw John Ammar & Peter Jagon race. At first there was not going to be any race because Jagon did not feel he could handle the 250 class as well as the Quad Class. But fortunately there were two motos held. In both Motos holeshots were very close but sure, as Johnny Ammar edged out Jagon for the lead and went on to victory. Jagon dazzled the croud with an astonishing dismount after landing off a jump. He landed on his behind, but was O.K.

Quad Class

This was without a doubt the most exciting set of Motos to take place at the meet. In all Motos action was intense with four - wheelers rear ends washing round high speed corners. The competitiors were most certainly not afraid to swap positons, as numeros battles took place. Not all battles were for the lead iether; all around the track for every position, there was adreneline flowing while throttle held wide open. Overall winner was Carey Gordon, while 2nd place went to Niel Chin & 3rd place was somehow tied by Paul Gooden & Peter jagon, who seemed to have come alive in the 3rd Moto. To tell the truth, so much passes and lead changes took place, that even us here at Moto-2 Racing Online are uncertain as to exactly what happened.

Sprint Class

This race, put up by Yamaja Engines Ltd. , encluded prize money totaling up to $25,000.00. One 10 lap race around the Autocross track, with prize money awarded to the top three positions in Bikes as welll as Quads.
Two words - Absolutely Amazing!! Bikes on the inside lane, & Quads on the outside lane of the Autocross (car) track. Most people, including the competitors and ourselves, believed that the Quads would put the bikes to shame. But once the race started, EVERYONE realized they were wrong. Johnny Ammar took the holeshot on his Yamaha YZ 400, followed by Christian Sale on his Yamaja Engines Ltd. sponsored YZ125. Just off the start, Craig Powell went down while Behind Sale, then again later while trying to catch up with leaders Ammar & Sale.
Winner was Ammar, suprisingly followed very close by Sale, & Powell in 3rd. All of whom Lapped the 80's of Langdon & John Ammar Jr., as well as
all of the Quads.

Open Class
After the Sprint Class, everyone was tired. Powell, Ammar, & Sale were the only to race. Ammar on the bigger bike got the holeshot and held off Sale's variuos attempts to get around him, until Sale fell in the 3rd lap. It was now Powell's turn to pick at Ammar, but his attempts were as unsuccessful as Sale's.
Final Result - Ammar 1st, Powell in 2nd, & Sale got up and finished the race for 3rd.
