I bought an Alpine when I was in the service in 1970. It was British racing green with wire wheels. I loved that car. I had to buy air filters for it one day, and I had to pay $15.oo each for the two filters. Back then, there were no foreign car parts places. I was afraid that if my motor went belly up, that I would never find the replacement parts. I sold it. It is the worst thing that I ever could have done. I live in Oregon, and have been trying to find another. I think that it was a 1968 (type4?). I am glad that there are so many people who enjoyed the Alpine as much as I did. Thank you for your page. Hi Paul, What a great home page!!!! My uncle is the inventor of Bolwell, and maybe you have met my uncle Campbell. My father used to build the kits for the Bolwell cars too, and it just dawned on me to have a look at the sites relating to it. I would love to he r from you and find out more about any other Bolwell cars you have owned. I actually thought that the cars would be a passing fad but now I am not so sure. I just wish my father was still alive to see where all his work has gone. Maybe my father was th one who made your kit. JASON, ps. my fathers name was Terry Turner

I purchased a "restored" Alpine from a Classic Car Auction, Oct '99 in Christchurch NZ. It drives very well but still needs a bit of work on the body. Completed the Southland 500 on 23/1/00. 500 Km with 78 other classic cars, the only Sunbeam there.Looked good beside the other common MG's etc. Runs a later 1725 cc motor and OD.

Seeing your car brought back vivid memories of my first car-a series 111. It was purchased used from Leo Geoghan in late 1967 and I ran it until late 1970. It was red with a black h/top/soft top. I think she had been repainted before I owned her and she w s in concours condition-at least the body was! Over the years I had a fair share of mechanical problems-dirty fuel tanks/brakes/etc etc. She had no log books so I doubt the mileage was original (around 46,000 miles) and from the problems I had it could ha e done twice that amount. I did have fun though-she was no problem to drive and I liked the soft relaxed nature of the car, particularly in o/d top. I often used her to drive down to Palm Beach where we had a weekend house. Also I remember the soft top w ich was easy to use and more weather proof than the hard top. I have no details of the car and resold her to Geoghans.

Don't break into a cold sweat, despite the Valigrunt (which I have all parts to return to std,), I would NEVER rod an old car. Ta for a great site.

You can see it at www.zcw.com.au - unfortunately it is for sale) Good luck with finding the stuff you need. I wish I had the internet while I restoring mine, I did managed to find a clock though!

NIce to see some pictures of the beautiful alpine again. I owned a series 4 in NewZealand a few years ago (followed closely by a EH Holden wagon funnily enough) and I do miss having them both around - I now live in UK though so maybe I'll get the chance t own another in its home country! Thanks for the entertainment! Leon in London

I wish I still had my 1966 Apline. I now know how to fix it. I didn't when I owned it. My next car was a 71 240X that lasted 20 years and then rusted out. Both great cars.

Mines metalic blue, its rusty and a little sad but I have high hopes of a restoration project starting in the near future. Chassis number is B9205693. Its running a Hunter motor, but I don't mind with OD and a 3.9 diff (ex hunter) I like the extra grunt. A 28/36 Weber works fine. I'm missing some peripheral stuff but I've got an original clock and water bottle! Regards from Christchurch NZ
