As could be heard some time earlier this month Mr. von Cramm bought a G-Class and a "small forest" - as he himself called it - in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, east of Hamburg.
Mercedes-Benz Enthusiast's Pages wishes all the very best for Mr. von Cramm and Mr. Roetters!

And here's what German daily newspaper "Hamburger Abendblatt" on July 20th 1999 has to say:

Mr. Mercedes' Star-Hour
.
Since eleven years he belongs to his adoptive city like the star to his company: Burghard von Cramm, chief of Niederlassung Hamburg ((Germany)) of DaimlerChrysler AG. Yesterday the 62 year old said goodbye on a farewell-party to which Mercedes-Benz Germany invited into the showrooms of the group in Wandsbek ((district of Hamburg)). And he began his last official act before his retirement like he began his way with Mercedes in 1957 - charismatic and pragmatic, forceful and clear-cut and with the view forward: "We want to begin now, because otherwise it's getting too hot here" he reminded the circa 250 guests to take their seats 15 minutes after the official start of the party. Then he welcomed them warmly, "especially those customers who didn't bring along personal gifts, but orders".
This spirit of sale Eckhard L. Panka, chairman of the board of Mercedes-Benz Germany, knows too well. Burghard von Cramm for more than four decades has personified and formed the spirit of the house, set himself high goals, was always ready to fight. "He not only was present, but always responsive, with real interest took on his employees, inspires as a person", said Panka. A "Mercedes-man of the old school" would leave, "we lose a colleague whom we will miss".
For the chamber of commerce, whose plenary assembly Burghard von Cramm was a member of for nearly ten years - among other things as chief of the economics committee - chamber of commerce deputy Martin Willich said goodbye in just as humorous as personal words. The footsteps, "better even the tyre size" which the future un-retired would leave behind would be remarkable. Von Cramm not only always would have looked after the concerns of the industry in Hamburg, made trends more accessible and actively co-formed politics. But above all he has prevented that we, me too, go astray in terms of automobiles. The automobile-man now "as wood farmer brings restlessness into his forest near ((the city of)) Boizenburg, but still we will like to listen to his advice in the future".
"I was working for 42 years in a brilliant company" the retiring chief of the Niederlassung then took stock of his life, "for which it was worth to work for". Nevertheless he would be glad to "look after my forest, to go hunting and jogging" in the future.
"All the very best for the future" the new chief of Niederlassung Gerhard Roetters wished. "I'm proud to be your successor. The standard is very high, but I like to take the challenge".
