1958 (end of ) excerpts from the 'Atlantis, A Journal of Research'

Special 'Notes of the Day'- The Atlantis, a Journal of Research of England was looking for information as to what happened to

The New Jersey version in USA of the 'Atlantis Research Centre' and was run by none other than

Late James Churchward who was Vice President of this research group who wrote the 'Mu' series of

Books, or Cosmic Children of Mu. The President of this group was Sir James Robinson, H.M.

Counsel General in New York, President. We have wondered what happened to the vast supply of

memoranda which they had at their disposal, also what happened to the store of stones with glyphs

accumulated by Churchward's friend William Niven. It would also be interesting to find out if James

Churchward was related to a certain Albert Churchward, a author of 'Signs and Symbols of

Primordal Man'?

Further Discoveries by Mr. Gouveia (In the Bahamas)

In his undersea exploration work off of the Bahamas, Mr. Gouveia and his associates have brought to the surface a granite slab weighing 475 pounds, which must have formed a step or a lintel. Details are given in these dimensions, 5'-6'' wide rectangle lying flat on sea floor, 13'' at the rectangle east and west ends square, and rectangle height was 7 7/8'' high all around the piece. The twin pedistal's that held this granite rectangle up were 7'' by 13'' placed at the rectangle's east and west ends underneath it. There is no Granite available locally i.e. Bahamas, and the question of where it came from maybe of Norway, how it got there and when is still unanswered. Mr. Gouveia has received a measure of friendly approval from the Colonial Office administration in the islands which is all to be good. He also writes "indeed you are to be commended for all the fine work you have done on behalf of the Atlantis question. The fact that you have kept the spirit of Atlantis alive so well for so many years is worthy of the greatest praise. At least you do have mine". Mr. Gouveia also observes "I am aware of the USSR's progress and indeed they may well scoop the Western World in the Atlantis field as they did with Sputniks. They do have some fine brains and that is what it takes". The party hope to resume their exploration in a few months (of 1958), which will give them time to sort out and classify what they have discovered.

The Green Sounding Stone in Atlantis, Gaston Burridge (writing from California)

He asks the question if there are traces of Jade Stone being of interest to Atlanteans at a remote period? Off hand we are unable to help him, perhaps readers may be able to furnish a clue. Mr. Burridge remarks that jade was the most valuable material in two civilizations: The Chinese and the Pre-Colombian, being far more esteemed than gold or even precious stones, commenting also that it has for long been considered a cure for kidney troubles. He also remarks that in China it was known as the "Green Sounding Stone", the priests considering that the purer the note emitted when it was struck, the higher the quality of the Jade. One feels that the thin wafer like pieces of jade giving out such sweet tones may well have formed the temple bells of the earlier cultures of Atlantis and its cousin Lemuria. It is odd that the Chinese should have called it the 'green stone', personally I have never felt any interest in jade of other colors, considering as I do that the white jade is more of an albino than a distinct color. Jade shares with Amber the distinction of being the precious trading material par excellence in prehistoric times. The 'Amber Routes' from the Baltic Sea, brought amber beads to Egypt and Palestine, while if my memory is correct Marco Polo even saw them in China. Whether jade was appreciated, as much in early times in Europe as was amber is a point that requires investigation.
