Texas, Houston Artcar
Museum |
We begin with a workshop at the Houston Art Car Museum from noon-3pm where
the public comes out and the kids make mini art cars
under the supervision of local car artists. This event is sponsored by the
Museum and several hundred cars get made and taken home
by the kids each year. (see link for photos of past years)

This year we adding a parade beginning at 4pm. It is not a long parade but an
intense one which ends at a local scene (the Tri-Bar area
of Silky's, MaryJanes and Walters on Washington) Not only do we have a permit
and everything the Mayors office has Officially
proclaimed Nov. 2 as WACD. Cool, huh?
Later that evening (8PM Art Car Museum) we hold our annual WACD Nite-time
Illuminated Cruise (NIC). Everyone shows up with the
car illuminated in some manner (it boggles the mind what some people come up
with let me tell you. Everything from Christmas lights
and reflective gear to great huge leaping plumes of flame fireing off into the
Houston night. No permit, no rules no sponsors.
The WACD NIC stops several times thru the night where we provide live
entertainment (music fire spinning and ourselves),
refreshments and previously positioned portacans (ppp's).
This year HACK has voted to spend our entire nest egg of $2500 on getting out of
towners (oots) here to share in our WACD
celebration. Still working on details but will be paying UP TO 25 cents a mile
in some cases.
Are you Lame or are you GAME? If so then please contact me at the above address
( santaclauscar@yahoo.com ) with
the exact
distance you are from us along with a photo of your car. If you do not want to
stay in a hotel let us know your requirements and we
will try to find you local hosts to accommodate you.
By the way, northern art car artists, have I mentioned that we often celebrate
WACD down here in Houston in shorts and shirt
sleeves. Now why would i say something like that No reason, no reason.
