Found your page by accident. Brought back many memories . I worked at The london Sports Car Center in 1968/70 Who were lotus agents . We would build Elans up from kits for cutomers who were a bit daunted by the challenge . (1600 GT cortina) and also the l tus twin cam ,Also a few sevens Have been 10 years with the R.A.C.V as a vehicle inspector . Keep up the good work David

Well, I like the information, the pictures, the style and the format. My son and I had hoped to build a Westie to but we don't fit! I am 188cm (6f2in) and my son is 190cm (6f 3in) so unless I can find a clubie for long people it looks like either a 24ounc r or a 105 Alfa. I think you should have got the flowers though! :-{]

Comments:
The SE Wide I built had the TVIS motor and went exceptionally well (115+hp at the wheels stock standard). The SEi I'm building has the black top 20 valve so the comparioson will be interesting. Your hints are sensible and well written. I agree with your comments on the standard manifold and larger exhaust. Thanks for your time.

Comments:
Excellent page! I am building a Locost Seven, which is a built from scratch Seven based on the plans in a book "How to Build your own Sports car" by Ron Champion. The chassis is almost a direct copy of the english Westfield, rather than a Caterham. I am u ing a 4A-GE engine and T-50 gearbox, Toyota Steering column etc, I think I will avoid rego hassles if I follow what Westfield builders do. Unfortunately Steve Fox doesn't like the competition from "backyard" builders, and refuses to sell us nose cones and fenders now, unless we buy the whole body kit for $3000+, a non-original set of nose cones and fenders can be bought for only $450 from someone with the moulds (and a lot of fibreglassers seem to have dabbled in Lotus Seven replicas from time to time). Another couple of Aussie sevens are the Kestrel Clubman made in Adelaide (see an article in Zoom Magazine earlier this year - very nice car, 20V engine, 180B/Subaru IRS), and possibly the Birkin Seven from Brisbane (it may actually be imported from South frica). Do you know what is meant by the "Q-Chassis" in the article on Westfields?? See you later? Darren
