Many of us have installed electric fuel pumps and (for the lack of a blanking plate) have temporarily left the mechanical pump in place. When doing so, it is a good idea to plug the outlet pipe of the mechanical pump. This releases the pressure on the lever arm and reduces the stress on the cam lobe.
