No manufacturer has shown as much committment to the Indian market as has Ford which, in meticulous
fashion, has put its first offering, the Escort, on Indian roads in record time. Ford launched the diesel
and petrol versions of the Escort simultaneously. The build quality of the Escort is very solid. The car
feels extremely taut with no trace of any rattles or scuttle shake. The bodyshell has been particularly
stiffened for Indian conditions. In fact, few companies have developed their products for the Indian
market as thoroughly as Ford has. The finish of the car - the panel gaps, paint job and some of the
rubber parts - however is questionable and indicates that the car is made in India. The interiors of the
car are the best in the segment. The funky oval theme gives the cabin a friendly ambience. The Escort's
interiors are not only the best designed, but made from first-class material. The swooping facia with
very legible instruments looks great. Ford has discountinued manufacturing the Escort since the launch
of the Ikon.
