Reva, means 'new beginning' in Sanskrit, it also stands for Revolutionary Electric Vehicle Alternative. Reva Electric Car Company is a part of Bangalore-based Maini Group. Measuring in at just 2,638mm in length, the Reva is styled in-house by a group of graduates from the Pasadena Design Center in the US. The roofline is tall in relation to the length, the wheels are over-sized while the flat windscreen is used to save costs, and incongruous A-pillar is out of sync with the rest of the body curves but the Reva exudes personality. The chassis consists of a light-weight spaceframe, heavily triangulated to provide sufficient stiffness and strength which supports all the mechanicals, batteries and the powertrain. Acrylo-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS) body panels are bolted onto the chassis. The panels are color-impregnated. This construction method requires only a fraction of the capital costs of conventional stamped panels.The cabin is spartan, featuring only a speedometer and a fuel gauge, and an indicator to show how much charge is left. The Reva is a great concept which has done well in Bangalore.
