Sample Contract

In this contract, made on _________________, 2004, Hana Morford of the Mousai String Quartet agrees to provide a string quartet to the following person _____________________________ at the following location _____________________________________on the following date _________________________, to start performing at ____________ o'clock and to end the service at ___________ o'clock. ___________________________________________ agrees to pay the gross fee of $ ________________ for this service.

The following terms are understood and agreed to:

1. Attire will be formal black unless otherwise specified. Detailed map and or directions to the place of engagement must be provided to all musicians at least two weeks prior to the engagement.

2. It is understood that some instruments, particularly string, are extremely valuable, and are   susceptible to damage when exposed to certain climatic variations, such as rain, direct sunlight and temperatures below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. It is understood that performers must be provided with shelter from rain and direct sunlight and that the temperature must be at least 65 degrees Fahrenheit.

3. The musicians will be afforded a 10 minute break for every hour played.

4. Four straight-backed chairs WITHOUT arms will be provided for the musicians.

5. Purchaser must pay the total amount of the services at the engagement immediately after the performance in one check made out to Sonja Harasim.

6. Overtime will be billed at the rate of $120 per half-hour for the entire quartet.

7. A deposit is not due before the event, although the purchaser vows here that he/she will use the services of The Mousai String Quartet for his/her above-mentioned engagement (see Cancellation Policy, #8, below).

8. Cancellation Policy:
     a. If the purchaser cancels this contract AT LEAST two (2) weeks prior to the date of performance, the Mousai String Quartet will charge no cancellation fee to the purchaser.
     b. If the purchaser cancels this contract between two (2) weeks and forty-eight (48) hours prior   to the date of performance, the purchaser agrees to pay fifty percent (50%) of the agreed upon wage to the Mousai String Quartet.
     c. If the purchaser cancels this contract LESS than forty-eight (48) hours prior to the date of performance, the purchaser agrees to pay one hundred percent (100%) of the agreed upon wage to The Mousai String Quartet.
