Responsible Movie Hopping

Now I know this has got to sound a little hypocritical but since you are going to break the rules by movie hopping you should at least be considerate to those customers that are paying. Generally be polite and don’t make trouble but there are some specifics that I need to go over.

Tips to keep you from making people mad (which causes problems all around).

• Avoid Sold Out Shows
  Sold out shows will often have a ticket checker at the door, obviously this is to keep theater hoppers out and there is a good reason. When the theater has sold out (between 80% and 95% capacity depending on theater) there are no seats for those people that paid for seats when people are there without paying. This causes lots of angry people, not only those that couldn’t see the movie but those movie theater employees that have to deal with the situation. Wait a week or so and the movie should have calmed down, if you really need to see the movie you can always buy a ticket for that show and sneak into a less popular movie. This is the best way around those ticket checkers, just pay to see the more popular movie (the one with the ticket checker) and sneak into the one that’s been out a while.

• Obey The Courtesy Rules
  No one likes it when there are people in the theater that are smoking or that are making noise. This includes babies, cell phones and pagers: turn them off or leave them at home (I’m still looking for the off switch on the baby).

• Pick Up Your Trash
  It doesn’t seem like a big deal but from my experience working at the movie theater its way easier for each person to take their own trash then it is for two people to pick up everyone’s trash. Lots of trash slows down the ability for people to sit down. In the theater that I worked at we had 1 person taking care of 9 screens and sometimes it was just too much to handle. If you take your own trash you might even get a “thank you” as you leave from an employee.
