INTRO:
Welcome to my website for Moxy Lowers. It has been over seven years since I first began experimenting with these lower wind-deflectors. I have fabricated and distributed more than 700 sets of lowers for the Kawasaki Vulcan Classics, Nomads, and Drifters. My lowers for the Suzuki 1500LC and the Suzuki Volusia are also very popular. Everyone who has used Moxy Lowers are surprised at how much more comfortable the lowers make their ride. Once you try the lowers, you won't want to take them off.
WHAT ARE MOXY LOWERS?
The first time I rode my new Vulcan 1500 Classic on March 15, 1996, the thrill of riding my new bike was diminished greatly because I immediately discovered a very strong upward flow of wind that came from below the fuel tank, rushed upward over my chest, and then into my face and under my glasses. At about 60 MPH, my head buffeted from side to side from the turbulence.
I began experimenting with ways to deflect the wind out to the side. The first experimental deflectors were slapped together from a couple of pieces of wooden wall paneling scraps held in place with plastic tie wraps. They looked silly...but when I took them for a ride, their effect was remarkable! I knew that I had found something that these bikes desperately need. I immediately set out to design lowers that were effective, attractive, and affordable.
The lowers I make now are made from 1/4" thick TUFFAK which is MUCH tougher than Lexan. I have also arranged for the Tuffak manufacturer to apply an invisible scratch-resistant vinyl film to each side of the material. This is really good stuff and I am the only lowers fabricator who has it.
