WEEKLY EDITORIAL:
A Real Jewel
by Rix
This week's topic, and in fact, our very first topic for conversation, is
on the new character, Jool. It was not but 4 months ago when she was first introduced to the Farscape world, and yet she still remains to

love everything about her. My favorite character used to be Rygel, but ever since she came onboard, she has made her way to #1 in my book. I think she is fantastic, and I can not wait to learn more about her. Tammy MacIntosh does a terrific job, and I
think she really works

Of course one problem is, how many characters can Farscape stand?
Originally there was really only five (I'm subtracting Pilot only because he
was not developed much in Season 1), and the first season gave us a fantastic display of character emotions and interactions. I think separating the crew on Talyn and Moya was a fantastic idea, but we all know that can't last forever. When the crew gets
back together, will our favorite characters be neglected in the way of others? If you ask me, there are two other characters I would much rather see leave first before the terrific Jool does. In fact, the only problem I could really find with her is not putting her in the opening credits right away.

So, after that long string of rambling, what do you think? Is Jool a
keeper? Is she really a great addition to the show, or is it just my male hormones that love her so much?

be a hot topic among fans. For that very reason...and the pure mention of her name gets me excited... I thought it would be the perfect topic to start things off.

Towards the end of Season 2, Farscape began to flourish with more and more characters. The writers and masterminds of the show started to realize all the great material that could be in the Uncharted Territories, and they bombarded us with more and more allies every episode. In fact, the "Liars, Guns, and Money" Trilogy brought a whole foray of new additions to the crew. Not only was Moya filled with allies for the trilogy, but also Jothee stayed onboard for awhile, Stark decided
to stay with Zhaan, and the crew began to let Crais in. Situations came and went, and they left us with a whole slew of new characters. One of which was Jool, who Crichton brought onboard Moya. Jool and her species have a similar genetic structure as humans do, and Crichton brought her, along with others (who ended up dying), out of
compassion and  pure curiosity. When she came out of cryo-genetic freezing, we got one hell of a new cast member.

With the infamous Zhaan dying right after her introduction, to many it
felt as though Jool was created to replace Zhaan. To me, that is not the case. I think her character is absolutely brilliant. I love her sarcasim and wit, and the pre-madonna adds a great dimension to the show. As far as we know, she is very "booksmart," and being on Moya will allow her to actually gain experience. She's smart, sexy, funny, and I
