Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Mass in C minor

Starting out, this song sounds like it would be part of the Requiem. Very morbid, eerie, sad, and almost tear-jerking. It starts out simple, with a very soft string tune that crecendos up to the choir entrance. A beautiful, and bittersweet, melody follows. The increadible work unfolds a darker and more profound side of Mozart that we do not often see. The soprano's sudden solo's (Try saying that one, three times fast) is an unexpected break in the chilling dread. Like rays of sun shinning through storm clouds, the sopranos voice breaks the sorrow only for a short time. Then the song returns to its original, solemn, tune. I can't help but speculate this is much like the life of Mozart. A bright flicker of light in an almost hopeless darkness, quick beautiful, and gone too soon.
