Mozart's Requiem is one of the most controversial, haunting, and depressing works of all time. Comissioned annonymously by a messenger in a dark outfit, the already depressed and sickly Mozart was terrifyed of what the comission might fortell. He began having mood swings and spoke openly and often about death. Though Constanze (His wife) tried to talk him out of his idea that he'd die soon, within a few months his prophecy had come true and he died tragically at age 35.
The Requiem was his final work. This first movement is one of the most depressing and foreboding, but in this CD only the very beginning of the Introitus is given, ruining the entire effect!
