Symphonie Concertante: W. A. Mozart

Running time: 13:32
Probably my first negative reveiw of Mozart! Wow! Though this Symphonie Concertante is beautiful, expecially around 4:06-5:55, the song is too long for a single theme. What ends up happening here is that Mozart relies to heavily on scales. The cello part, as always, is wonderful. But the violin part, even though I admit that I dislike violins, goes much to high. Even a violin lover will admit that. There is a time and a place for a violin to go well into third position, and in this song, a song where most of the other instruments are lower, it simply doesn't fit. Though I will give it this, it makes much better use of the Bass and cello than most Classical songs. At 9:42 the all to farmiliar theme comes back with less effect the second time around. At 10:22 the violins and violas go into scales again for over 20 seconds which is long enough. At 11:17 it becomes very beautiful when the vilins go a bit lower, and then the cellos, violas, and violins go into scales once more. After that, nothing remarkable happens until 12:53 when the theme is again repeated for a fourth time, though it does sound better. All in all, it could have been improved if the violins would lower and play a smaller part. But what do I know? I'm sure Mozart had his reasons.
