Running time: 7: 46 | ||||||||||
Composed when young Mozart was only Seventeen, this symphony shows how he is already a master of the "Sonata form". It begins with a harsh string solo that pulls you in. The frantic playing gives you a feeling of utter panic, that is unusually rivaled with an almost immediate calm. The woodwinds come in and sweeten the song into a sound that can only be described as pure beauty. However, the strings pick back up and the song is again rushed into a frenzy that sounds almost as if it were an angelic hatred. During this time in his life, Mozart was on tour that was getting to be much to long for the teenagers restless soul. This is the feeling that you get from this increadible piece. As is, the only flaw it may posses is that several fragments of the song are repeated more then twice, giving it almost a redundant sound. However, the young genius balances this out by adding a beautiful melody around the 4:25 mark. This new melody is not repeated, but stands perfectly on it's own. After it, we are left with a bittersweet feeling, almost like Wolfgang was writing about love and hate at the same time, the two feelings swirl and mingle throughout the piece. The frantic ending is not only heartwrenching but it gives you a feeling of helplessness as it comes to a final close. | ||||||||||
