Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Symphony 29 | ||||||||
Sound: 8 Feeling: 8 Presentation: 8 |

Running Time: 5:39 | ||||||||
Mozart was still a tender eighteen when he composed this irresistible Symphony, showing he was master of composition and the classical style. It's uncomplicated elegance and simple grace seem natural to the ears, and easy to listen to. Above all, Mozart believed that music should sound natural and be easy on the listener. He detested songs that seemed to be trying too hard to pull you in. Or, even worse, songs that are boring with no point to them. He keeps the same theme throughout this gorgeous work, yet he varies it enough to keep you interested. It turns it's attention to strings, using the winds only as a bit of support. The music may seem a touch rushed, almost as if the slower parts and the faster parts don't belong to the same song. This is easily countered however, with beautiful and catchy themes that remain consistent. Note that Mozart was eighteen and this is his twenty-ninth symphony; this shows the increadible amount of work he produced in his tragically short life. |
