Special areas as per MARPOL 73/78

 

Annex-I

As per regulation 1, followings are the special areas:

bullet Mediterranean seas
bullet Baltic seas
bullet Black seas
bullet Red seas
bullet Gulf area (Persian gulf)
bullet Gulf of Aden
bullet Antarctic areas
bullet North-west European waters
bullet Oman area of Arabian sea

 

 

Annex-V

As per regulation 5, followings are the special areas.

bullet Mediterranean seas
bullet Baltic seas
bullet Black seas
bullet Red seas
bullet Gulf area (Persian gulf)
bullet North seas
bullet Antarctic areas
bullet Wider Caribbean regions

 

bullet In special areas, only food waste can be disposed off in seas greater 12 n.m. from shores.
bullet In wider Caribbean regions only food waste comminuted to 25mm can be discharged in seas more than 3miles from the coast.
