The Red Barn 2002
Here we are at the Red Barn bus only show the day before Kelly Park. What a turn out, we ended up in the overflow lot. It was a great event, low key and free! Scored a couple deals and sold some stuff, so all in all a break even venture.
Then, my first real big show - Kelly Park, San Jose. Talking to folks that had been there before, they recommended getting there early in order to get in. Gates opened at 8:00, and rumor had it that if you weren't in line by 5:00, you wouldn't get in due to the amount of cars in line.
Using that as our planning baseline, we shot for 4:00 show-time, which meant leaving Monterey at 3:00. However, due to the time change that morning, we actually had to be on the road at 2:00, which turned to 3:00 automatically! Needless to say, we all met at Denny's and rallied up in line and headed north. We got there at 4:00, and the line was already a city block long. By 6:00 it was 4 blocks long that I could see, probably longer. We got in, set up, and had a blast. Unlike the day before, the weather broke and was nice and toasty. 5 of the MPAS cars walked away with awards! What a blast.
