The following is a general listing of homework and classwork assignments in Reading, Language, Spelling, and Daily Oral Language PARENTS: This list is intended as a general guide. More specific assignments can be found on the school website. Students at this grade level are still responsible for writing down assignments DAILY in their assignment pads. ASSIGNMENTS LISTED BELOW AND ON THE SCHOOL WEBSITE ARE ALIGNED WITH TARGET TEACH OBJECTIVES AND GRADE LEVEL EXPECTATIONS. HOWEVER, THEY MAY BE MODIFIED (DELAYED, CHANGED AND/OR ADDED TO) AS NEEDED. |
General Schedule of Assignments in Language Arts Daily Oral Language: A new set of sentences and one paragraph are assigned every week. Students copy the sentences and paragraph and make corrections in spelling, grammar, usage, punctuation, and capitalization. Spelling: Spelling lessons are assigned sequentially on a weekly basis. The assignment is always write the words 10x each and do the two workbook pages. Defined words may also be assigned. Reading: Every week a new story is covered in class, usu- read aloud as a whole class, as a group, or in partner reading. Each story has a set of vocabu- lary words which must be defined. There is also a set of comprehension questions. Skills associa- ted with the covered story is assigned from the reading workbook. Language: Unit lessons are assigned on a weekly basis from selected chapters in the text. After a section is covered, workbook pages are assigned as a pre- test activity, then reviewed in class. This is followed by a test. TeenBiz: Articles to be read on a weekly basis are auto- matically generated in TeenBiz, the online reading program. All students are to read two stories per week and complete the multiple choice activities. lEAP Coach: Assignments from the Leap Coach series will be on- going, particularly in the 3rd quarter.
