The following is a very general list of the type of extra credit that you may earn during the physical science school year. In front of the assignment you will see a very general point value each assignment is worth.

Please Note:

Ø Any form of extra credit with a * will require approval from the instructor prior to beginning the assignment.

Ø Extra credit for this class is proactive in nature. Therefore, if you are having difficulty with material covered in class it is expected that you complete extra credit prior to a test or quiz.

Ø Assessment of extra credit points will be judged on the merit of the work, and is ultimately determined by the instructor. Additional ideas are welcome, but bust be discussed before initiating the activity.

Points Activity

1-5 Comic or cartoons dealing with the current topics being discussed. The comic will be mounted on plain white paper with your name and hour written on the back of the paper.

10 Newspaper or magazine articles dealing with science concepts. The articles must be accompanied by a typed one-paragraph summary of the article and how it relates to the class.

10 *Additional homework assignments

15-30 *Read a science related book and prepare a report

25 *perform a demonstration for the class

25-60 *perform an outreach activity

25-100 *independent research project. Design and conduct an experiment
