She-Hulk - The Fusion Part Three of Three By Greenwood

The remaining crew of the EOC Callaway stare in absolute shock at the naked superwoman standing before them. Just moments prior their captain, Taylor James, was stuck watching helplessly as the Destroyer obliterated nearly the entire Yione race and struck down several members of her crew. Overcome with grief and fueled by rage Taylor underwent a startling transformation and became essentially a She-Hulk. Now this large green amazon, who stands at nearly seven feet tall and radiates power, stands tall in the face of one of the most feared creatures in existance. The Destroyer is the simply named beast that is responsible for an untold amount of devastation and loss of life. This new being, this She-Hulk, eyes the Destroyer warily. The Callaway's crew look on with their jaws firmly on the ground at this most unbelievable of sights. Moments before they had accepted death. It was all but a formality. But now they all inexplicably felt a sense of safety. They all felt in their guts that they would survive. However, no man would admit to it for fear of false hopes. "Take cover." Those two words, spoken by the green-skinned She-Hulk, serve to snap the men from their thoughts and into action. They quickly, and without words, rush to the Callaway. Boarding it, they find that by activating the force field they are able to fly the ship as if it were undamaged. The plan is for them to fly into the sky and wait for Taylor/She-Hulk to give them more orders. The plan is absurd but none of the men have the mental capabilities to properly function right now. They are overcome with disbelief. She-Hulk watches them out of the corner of her eye as they take off. She quietly growls to herself and a greenish glow appears around her body. What could be described as green smoke starts to ooze from her eyes and dissipates about a foot above her head. A bright green energy forms around her hands and the area surrounding her wavers like the air above railroad tracks in the summer. The ground before her starts to break apart as her power grows. The few sparse forms of life nearby wilt and wither away as the She-Hulk's radiation based powers grow even stronger. The Destroyer seems to look on in wonder. The She-Hulk shows no fear and this intrigues the Destroyer. The She-Hulk's eyes narrow and she slowly starts to fly up towards the Destroyer. The crew members look on in awe and speechless wonder. As she draws close she gathers the energy in her hand, preparing for an attack. Even though Taylor would obviously have no idea what or how to do any of this (even though the She-Hulk is a physical extension of her) the She-Hulk is being driven by a force that knows exactly what to do and how to accomplish it. She-Hulk lets loose with a battle cry just before she blasts the Destroyer. The immense wave of radiation seems to do little other than bother the enormous beast. Undaunted, the She-Hulk fires again and is met with the same result. Again and again she fires but the blasts seem to have little affect. The Destroyer, having stayed in the same position throughout She-Hulk's attacks, now rushes forth at her with surprising speed. She-Hulk manages to elude the attack, but just barely. The Destroyer attempts another rush but She-Hulk again dodges it. The two combatants face each other as they each decide what their best course of action would be. Suddenly, the Destroyer speaks in a loud, boom... "I am Xemnu. I have existed for many centuries. I am responsible for untold trillions of deaths. Many have tried to defeat me...only to be met with their destruction. That is why I am called the Destroyer. I have given you quite the honor. Very few have ever had the privilege of hearing me speak. None of those who have lived." She-Hulk smirks at the mighty creature. "I will crush you with ease!" she promises. Xemnu's response is to again rush She-Hulk. She again dodges and lands a powerful blow into its bulbous flank. Her fist is swallowed and the force of the punch is absorbed and negated. She-Hulk frees her hand and launches a rapid-fire assault on this harbinger of doom. Xemnu counters by flaying its tentacles and attempting to ensnare She-Hulk. One by one She-Hulk dodges the thick tentacles and as she flies under the last one she lets loose with a powerful blast into Xemnu's underbelly. It roars in pain and sends all of its tentacles whipping towards She-Hulk at once. She gets smacked by several of them and is sent hurtling into planet Yione's surface, coming to rest a couple of feet underground. With an angry roar she explodes from the land and rockets up at Xemnu. She crashes into it and tries to come out the other side. Instead, Xemnu's body acts like a rubber ball and deflects She-Hulk back down to the ground where she lands with a splat. Not quite as quick to get up as before She-Hulk nonetheless slowly rises to her feet. Smelling blood, Xemnu hastily races at She-Hulk and smashes her into the ground again. She gets back up again just in time for Xemnu to pancake her again. No sooner does she lift her head up then Xemnu crushes her yet again. The next time she doesn't move a muscle before it is on her again. Her body tenses with pain as Xemnu's mighty form squashes her further into the already splintered ground. The next time Xemnu lands on She-Hulk she doesn't move at all. Perhaps sensing her seemingly unconscious state Xemnu backs off and floats above the fallen warrior. The crew of the Callaway watch in horror as Xemnu gains the upper hand. They hold their collective breaths as the large amazon is pummeled mercilessly. Then their jaws drop in unison as She-Hulk's head slowly rises and the rest of her body, trembling with effort, follows. She gets to her fee, spits out some blood, and beckons for Xemnu to attack her again. The mighty Destroyer has six tentacles at its disposal and it strikes She-Hulk across the face with one of them. She's dazed but not defeated and Xemnu hits her with another tentacle. She staggers back but still stands. The third and fourth hits come together as she's smashed in the torso. She grabs at her side and grimaces in pain. All of her attempts to dodge the attacks have failed due to her weakened state. She's fighting back the pain inside that threatens to overwhelm her as she notices another tentacle attack. Her senses dulled with pain and her reaction time slowed, She-Hulk fails victim to yet another crushing blow that drives her to her knees. Then she can only watch in horror as Xemnu turns its attention from She-Hulk to the crew of the ship Callaway. "No!" she shouts. Xemnu pauses in mid-air. "You listen to me, you sorry son of a bitch! This fight is between you and me. You leave them out of it." she growls. Xemnu chuckles. "How dare you speak to me that way? I will take great pleasure in ripping you apart!" She-Hulk flies up to meet Xemnu but is met by several blows from its tentacles that send her crashing back towards Yione's surface. The impact of her freefall to the ground is nearly equal to that of a small earthquake. The ground is torn apart by her body as it carves out a sizeable chunk of land by skidding across the surface. The crew of the Callaway rush to Yione's surface in hopes that they may somehow be able to save She-Hulk. They quickly start to unboard near her prone body. Suddenly, she slowly lifts her head. No...leave this place..." Some of the men start to object. "Now! Don't...don't come back." Seeing the urgency in her eyes and hearing the desperation in her voice the men comply. They re-board the Callaway and set course for Earth. However, just before they enter the atmosphere they stop to see what will happen next. Xemnu floats down to where She-Hulk is lying. It chuckles again. "You succeeded in saving the lives of your friends...for now. Before long all those in this universe will taste my wrath. You are not the first...and you will not be the last. You...Ahh!" Xemnu shouts in surprise as She-Hulk leaps to her feet and grasps Xemnu in a breahug. While obviously unable to reach all the way around she does manage to tie up three of its tentacles. Xemnu pummels her with its remaining tentacles but she won't release her deathgrip. "It ends here. It ends with me." She-Hulk then expels all of her air and seems to hold her breath for a second. Suddenly, a bright green light starts to pour from every orifice in her body. A soft, wailing type moaning comes from the She-Hulk. The bright green light starts to envelope her whole body as the moaning turns into a grunting. "What?" Xemnu questions. "It's over. Your reign of terror is over." She-Hulk's eyes bulge as the reaction taking place inside her grows stronger. Perhaps sensing what is about to happen, Xemnu tries desperately to get away. "No, no! Get away from me!" She-Hulk starts to roar but gets cut off by the massive nuclear explosion she has created. Basically what She-Hulk has done is take all of the radiation and nuclear energy inside of her body and turned it outward. The resulting explosion has the effect of an atomic bomb. The crew of the Callaway see a mushroom cloud forming right where She-Hulk and Xemnu were seconds earlier. The power of the cloud creates turbulence for the Callaway despite it being a few miles above the action. They see the ground shake as shockwaves cross the land. They all watch in silent horror at what has just happened. None of the men can verbalize just what emotions they're feeling at this moment. Anger, fear, relief, sadness. These are all felt in varying degrees. In the middle of the mushroom cloud She-Hulk lets loose with a mighty roar but gets drowned out by the cloud. Xemnu screams in disbelief at the power of this being holding it. Its body begins to rip apart and the first parts to go are its tentacles. Wave after wave of radiation crashes down upon Xemnu, withering it away into nothingness. Its last cry is cut short and the most destructive force in the universe is finally silenced. The crew tries to look on but they're blinded by the brillant flashes of light beneath them. No discernible detail can be seen amidst the mushroom cloud and it is several minutes before the men can look upon what has taken place. Where She-Hulk and Xemnu had been there now exists an enormously large crater the width of a football field and about half as deep. In the middle of the crater is a hole from which lava is seeping out of. Inside the crater lies the prone bodies of Taylor and Portis. A greenish mist clouds the air a bit. The ground begins rumbling. "Uh...Cap...captain...Lakri..." Steve says with a shrug. "The seismic readings are off the charts! That planet won't last much longer!" "We have to go down there!" Lakri shouts. He starts to put on a harness in preparation for the rescue. "No." Rand tells him. "You're in charge right now and we can't risk you getting hurt." Blake grabs the harness and puts it on. "Let's do it!" Blake shouts. "Wait a second!" Steve yells. "The radiation levels are extraordinarily high! You won't make it!" "Well, then, get me a damn radiation suit...now!" A couple of the crew look for a proper suit. "Come on, come on! Hurry!" Blake orders as the rumbling intensifies. Finally, a suit is found and Blake quickly dons it and rushes to the surface to get Taylor and Portis. Suddenly, a large nearby mountain erupts in volcanic activity. The entire side and top of the mountain are completely obliterated as more lava flows freely across the land. The ground is shaking so much that Blake finds it hard to maintain his balance but he manages to grab Taylor and tie her and himself to the safety line. As he's doing so Blake notices a small rip in the left wrist of his suit. Quickly throwing Portis over his right shoulder Blake gives the signal to lift them up and they're brought aboard the Callaway. The crew immediately begins tending to the two heroes and the Callaway rockets off to a safe distance from planet Yione. They all watch as, just over a minute later, Yione explodes in a fiery flash of destruction. Breathing a sigh of relief the crew sets course for home.
