Remember
to click on "Help" for any item below.
- Open your
Letterhead. Type, copy paste some
"About Me" paragraphs like you did for the last exercise. Go to File::Save As and call it
"FP2_name". (Yes, that
would be "your" last name, and it's 2 this time, not 1)
- Copy your work and
paste it several times so that you have about 4 or 5 pages of text and::or
about 10 or 12 paragraphs. It
doesn't matter that they say the same thing over and over. Make sure you have a space between each
paragraph.
- Go to Edit::Select
All. Copy and paste about 3 or 4
times. You will now have well over
10 pages to play with.
- Now go up to the
percent sign and choose 10%. Isn't
that wonderful? Now play with the
others: 25%, 50%, text width, etc.
- Set your percent back
at 10%. Now go to File::Page Setup::Paper
Size and click on "Landscape".
Aren't you amazed?
- Set your pages back to
"Portrait" in Page Setup. Now, while in Page Setup, experiment with
Margins. Try changing the size of
all margins including the gutter, mirror margins, etc.
- Finish your Page Setup
with "Portrait" and all margins 1inch.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Find a place in your
paragraphs where a paragraph is split up because the page ends. Put your cursor at the beginning of
that paragraph. Now go to
Insert::Break and click on "Page Break" (it should already be
clicked). Click "OK" and
see what happens. Insert more page
breaks. With the extra space that
some of your breaks may cause, we'll insert some "Clip Art".
- Go to View::Toolbars
and click on "Drawing".
It's a good idea to have your drawing toolbar handy. Click on the "little guy" in
the drawing toolbar. This brings
up the "Insert Clip Art" window.
Another way to get this
is to go Insert::Picture::Clip Art, except you don't have the drawing tool
bar. Browse through the Clip Art
for awhile; there's tons to see.
When you find one you like, shrink the Clip Art window by putting
your cursor on the right edge. It
should turn into an arrow ( ) like this. Then just drag it over. Then drag and drop your picture onto
your paper (document). Easy!!
You may find the
picture is too big or too small.
Grab one of the white corner squares (handles) and experiment with
changing the size. Now, double
click on the picture or go to Format::Picture. This will open the "Format Picture" window.
- Just for fun, click on
Layout::Tight. Then try moving
your picture around. Now click on
"Behind Text". Then go
to "Picture" and increase the brighteness to about 90%. Isn't that cool. When you've decided what to do, insert
3 or more pictures. Have fun.
