CREATING A WEB ABOUT ME!!

 

Good Day!  This activity will explore the program Inspirations.  Inspirations is useful when you are organizing a story to write (like a web).  Follow the instructions and have fun!!

  1. Click on the icon Inspirations. If there is a “Did you know” window that appears then click ‘close’
  2. Go to File and Save As “first name_ Inspirations”.  Save to your home directory.

 

  1. Back to Inspirations…In main idea type in your name (first and last) then click on ‘rapid fire’.

 

  1. Type in the following headings (always pressing ‘enter’ after each one). FAMILY, FRIENDS, HOBBIES, VACATIONS.

 

  1. Click on FAMILY.  List all of your family members (and extended family if you so desire).  Be sure to press Enter after each name.

 

  1. Click on FRIENDS.  List some friends that you like.  Be sure to press Enter after each name.

 

  1. Click on HOBBIES.  List at least 4 hobbies you like.  (Sorry, watching TV is not a hobby!!)  Be sure to press Enter after each hobby.

 

  1. Click on VACATIONS.  List some places that you have visited or that you would like to visit.  Be sure to press Enter after each.

 

  1. Now go to View and click on Symbol Palette.  Change the shape of your HOBBIES section to the shape of stars.  Change the FRIENDS section to the shape of animals that each friend reminds you of (Be creative!).

 

  1. Now change FAMILY members and VACATIONS to any picture you would like.

 

  1. See if you can change the background color as well as the arrows of your Web.  Save your work.

 

  1. Now try to figure out different features on Inspirations.  Show me if you find any cool things!!!
