SIGNAL:
“Heads
Up” – Hand in air, wait for students to stop, look, listen
Expect students to be ready on
3 count.
Change activity
from small group to teacher direction,
Flick lights and signal a “Heads Up”
Students stop task and wait for instructions.
The
students should be silent and on attentive on these commands.

B.U.G.S. - Being Unbelievably Good
Students
Teacher keeps tally
of total class meeting of expectations. If class earns 80% of possible checks
in a month, students will be provided with 30 min. of individual seat work time
for study, reading, HW completion or catch up, etc. on the last class day of
the given month. This is a very quiet “own choice” period.

PROCEDURES
/ ROUTINES:
1) Entering
classroom
a)
Students
will enter quietly, in an organized, civilized manner

Immediately
take their seats. Not visiting time. Class has begun!
c) Books and materials out on desk, HW open
for teacher checking

Look
to front board for opening assignment. Read agenda and days objectives. Get to work on activity immediately.

5) Student
materials
a) Students will come to class with all necessary
materials. If they have forgotten something- problem solve. Borrow from a
friend etc. Should not disrupt beginning activities. Teacher may lend some
materials for collateral. Student will
sign out the equipment for teacher record.
6) Need help
a) Ask 3 before me! Ask 3 others first in a
very quiet voice. (Stay in seat)
b)
Stand
text on desk. If teacher is busy go on to next problem while waiting.
c)
If
assignment is unclear, don’t take for HW. Come and see me at end of class or
day.
7) Ending class
a) Teacher signaled “Heads Up”, waits for
count of 3
b) Students close books on desk and face
teacher for ending comments.
c) Student planners are completed. Teacher
dismisses.

Teacher to create seating assignments. To begin with, they will be in alphabetical order.
Open door policy. Come and see me with a question or a concern. Student will be able to drop a message in teachers classroom private message box if rather write down the problem or concern. Teacher will then follow up on letter with student at an appropriate time.
A) Students arrive and change into proper gym strip immediately and have 5 minutes to change and be ready and on gym floor in circle or horseshoe formation.
B) Once on gym floor check in for attendance and begin warm up circuit or teacher given task.
C) If not part of circuit, teacher will call class in to do a teacher or student led full body stretch.
D) Teacher will use a whistle and/or verbal “Heads Up” command to gain class attention. Whistle means stop immediately what you are doing and sit or kneel where you are and Heads Up is the signal to come in and gather around for instruction.
E) When Heads Up signal is given, students have 10 seconds to stop what they are doing, gather around the teacher in a seated or kneeling position in a horseshoe pattern. There will be no talking.
F) When using implements, the whistle means they must stop being used and be on the ground beside them.
G) No strip, students participate anyway in bare feet if it is safe to do so. Max. points for the day, however, will be 3 out of 5 for full participation. Teacher will note lack of gym strip. If this continues, teacher will contact the parents and discuss possible reasons and a plan of action.
H) Students will be evaluated daily on a 5 point scale for their effort, sportsmanship, participation. ( See holistic scale in PE Course Outline). This will account for 60% of their final mark.
I) Safety is #1. Horseplay will not be permitted. No second chances. Sit out and fill out responsibility form, and if necessary to the PARK and/or a DT and phone call home.
J) Non strippers will complete PE sport activity sheets and/or no strip sheet and may be given certain jobs to complete (ie. Garbage duty, PE room clean up, etc.)
K) End of period dismissal. Teacher will call group in. Review skills, etc. covered. Send class for changing. 5-8 minutes will be given for changing during class time. Students will re-enter gym and sit in bleachers for final check with teacher (5 pt. Scale) until signal for next period.

1) Computers and computer equipment is treated with care and respect: NO FOOD or DRINK can be brought into labs (this includes GUM)
If a computer is not working please tell the teacher
Computers are always logged off and shut down correctly at the end of the period
Outside software cannot be used on any computer
2) Stay in your seat during the class. If you need to leave for any reason ask permission.
3) Absences - If you are away, it is your responsibility to catch up on missed work. Failure to complete
assignments will lower your grade. You must have a ‘homework buddy -a person you can phone or who will
phone you when you are absent.
4) If you need extra help on an assignment, see your teacher before the work is due.
A computer Lab(rm 220 or 207) will be open most days before school, lunchtime and after school. A teacher supervisor will be present most days. The library also has computers available for work
5) Work handed in late will have marks deducted (10-20%). Work more than a week late will earn only a pass.
6) Ask for permission before printing. Most assignment will be handed in electronically (e-mail) to me and
returned the same way.
This will be based on criterion referenced assignments, quizzes, keyboarding and effective use of class time.

A= 86%, B =73%, C+ = 67%, C = 60%, C- = 50%, I = 49% or less.

B) Once students enter, they will immediately take a seat in two rows that form a horseshoe pattern in front of the teacher.
C) Teacher will greet the student and provide an overview of the period. Then the teacher will explain the warm-up activity and students will begin. Attendance will be taken during this initial activity.
D) When Heads Up signal is given, students have 10 seconds to stop what they are doing (Freeze). There will be no talking. Students should be in a seated or kneeling position on this signal.
F) When using implements, the signal means they must stop being used and be on the ground beside them.
G) The teacher may provide instructions from that point or ask the student to “Bring it in”. Students will then return to the two-row horseshoe pattern for instructions.
